Visited following a recommendation from a friend. Treptower Park S Bahn is just a short train ride from the centre of Berlin. There is a lovely walk along the river Spree, through parkland as well as the spectacular Russian War memorial which is just a 10-15 min walk from the S Bahn. The memorial is a tribute to the Russians... More

Located south of central Berlin in the heart of the Treptow-Koepenick district, Treptower Park is beautiful and as it on the Spree river, you can take boat trips if desired. We visited to view the Soviet War Memorial (the largest in Germany) and cemetery - very impressive. Don't miss the Island of Youth.

we stopped here on out Fat Tire bike tour. A Soviet Memorial to the men lost in WWII, the stories carved into the stone, in Russian on one side and German on the other, give a glimpse into the past in what was to become East Germany.

The Treptower Park is lined with beautiful trees and opens up to an amazing monument in memorial to the 80,000 fallen soldiers of the Soviet War battle of Berlin.

How very german. Lets put a giant rectangle of cement with grass around it and put a giant statue overlooking one end. Worth a 15 minute stop to get a picture but there are so many better places to visit in Berlin.

It's worth visiting just to see the sheer scale of the memorial, the pictures do not do it justice! It gives rise to thoughts on why so much money was spent to erect this elaborate memorial after the war when the ordinary people were poor and oppressed just to thank the Russian 'dictatorship' for 'liberation'. When reading the information boards... More

Really interesting memorial to the Soviet's WWII. We walked from the city, which is good way to see that side of Berlin. Very impressive and well worth the walk. It's also easy to combine with the East Side Gallery Wall. On the way down we stopped at Hopfenreich, great bar. On the way back we ate at Sage, which was... More

I visited Triptower Park first in 1963 with a group of Scandinavian journalists and we were amazed. The following years I visited Berlin many times and asked people where was this park and tried to explain it. No one seemed to know but I think people did not want to talk about the park it because the Russians had made... More

I came froom Schöneberg on my bike durig the Summer and it was beautiful. The memorial is absolutely awe inspiring and very moving at the same time. I recommend the summer months as it is lovely to take a picnic and eat by one of the lakes in Treptower Park.
