We were a group of 5 people on a cool windy December day in Berlin. Jean Pierre brought the city alive (even the places that were no longer there) with his knowledge and enthusiasm about his beloved city. His explanation of how current architecture effectively reinterpreted structures of the period was fascinating and well documented with his pictures. We were impressed with the detailed level of knowledge he was able to provide in response to our numerous questions. He brought to life the personalities and character of the key individuals that were influencing Berlin during and after the Second World War.
We highly recommend him as a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and personable guide to choose to interpret the history of Berlin.

To say that the Berlin experience Jean Pierre offers is premium is not fully descriptive of what it truly is. The closest that I can come up with is “definitely high-end premium”.
Jean Pierre cuts to the chase and offers a highly personalized experience of Berlin. Time with him started in the garden of his cozy Berlin abode where he listened and got to know us over champagne and then lead us to an off the beaten path neighborhood restaurant for an authentic local Berliner dining experience. This set the tone for the next 2 days with him. Our tour with Jean Pierre started the following morning with him meeting us at our hotel for a general introduction to the custom experience he has tailored. My partner and I completely trusted Jean-Pierre on the itinerary he has planned and he nailed it perfectly. His tour provided so much more than information. He served the Berlin experience based on our interests.
Our time with Jean Pierre fully exceeded our expectations. Passionate on sharing his wealth of knowledge on German history, his love for Berlin is highly contagious. We are grateful and highly appreciative of his role in making our time in Berlin enriching and very memorable.

6 friends have just visited Berlin for the first time . We booked Premium Guide at the last minute and what a superb choice we made. Jean-Pierre met us at our hotel at 11am as arranged and then we spent the next 5 hours walking and taking buses around Berlin.Jean -Pierre is a fantastic guide - we did everything at our own pace and learned a lot in a very enjoyable way . He is highly intelligent ,well informed and has a lovely personality. After a couple of hours we stopped at the German History Museum cafe for refreshments and then finished the tour at 4pm with afternoon tea at the Riechstag . The Reichstag/ Dome tour was fully booked but Jean - Pierre managed to book us in which is something we could not have done ourselves . We had afternoon tea and then watched the sunset over Berlin from the roof of the Riechstag building . A perfect end to a perfect day . I would highly Recommend Premium Guide. Jean - Pierre certainly gave us a real understanding of Berlin in a very short time.

As a travel writer, whenever I visit a foreign city, the one thing I seek out is locals. They provide an instant connect to the people and the city's frame of mind. Jean-Pierre was highly recommended to me before I travelled to Berlin from Sydney for the 25th anniversary of the Wall coming down in early Nov. I initially toured with a group of journalists before I met up with Jean-Pierre. Our 4 days of zipping around the city was naturally heavily focused on former East Berlin (life and conditions whilst the wall was up). It was intense, and often gut-wrenching as we learnt in depth about Stasi oppression.
After the travel famil, I spent a morning alone with Jean-Pierre. We stepped right back in time to the days when Berlin was a wealthy European super power, well before WWII. Covering much ground on foot (with the odd bus and tram ride), we traversed several neighbourhoods discussing architectural wonders, and city planning back in the 1800's and early 1900's. All this came to life vividly thanks to Jean-Pierre's collection of large images of buildings in their original state prior to the city's bombings which he carried around in a large bag to paint a picture of how grand and exquisite the city was.
We looked at cathedrals, an original palace which is now being reconstructed, parliament houses, Museum Island, and wandered along Unter den Linden, the prestigious boulevard stemming from the Brandenburg Gate (where much of our discussion centred upon Nazi-occupied Berlin), before meandering around the streets in the picturesque neighbourhood Prenzlauer Berg. Here, in this former East Berlin suburb which is now very much gentrified and littered with bespoke cafes, divine stores and wonderful restaurants, we discussed life in Berlin today at his favourite local coffee shop. I could have chatted through the afternoon and well into dinner with Jean-Pierre thanks to his incredible encyclopaedic knowledge of the city' history which he magically spins into fascinating tales, and views on Berlin today as a city re-configuring itself. Do yourself a favour and spend 1/2 a day with Jean-Pierre at the beginning of your trip in Berlin. He'll lay the foundation for all your adventures and will ply you with recommendations from must-visit galleries to secret local eateries.

Just returned from a visit to Berlin where we toured the city with Jean Pierre. The evening prior to our tour date, Jean Pierre invited us to his home for a chat and some Champagne and arranged for a stellar dinner at a neighborhood restaurant. Jean Pierre also arranged for a wonderful lunch atop the Reichstag that concluded a first day tour of the WW2 era sites around Berlin. Our second day included Renaissance and Medieval periods in the city. It concluded with another stop at Jean Pierre's home for a final toast to the city and another excellent reservation for dinner at a local restaurant. Kudos for his find taste in dining and Champagne, and the highest marks for his knowledge of the city and its history, and his warm personality that made the tour a lasting memorable event for us. Thanks again, Jean Pierre.

Our Private Tour with Jean- Pierre was one of the favorite memories of our trip to Berlin.
Jean-Pierre is a gem. Living in Berlin for more than 20 years, he is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the city giving us details we would not have known without him as a guide. His knowledge of the various styles of architecture in Berlin was a highlight for us. We are both architecture enthusiasts and love learning about and being exposed to it in the cities we visit. Jean-Pierre has a book of "then and now" photos that he shows at appropriate times on the tour. It was fascinating to see these photos as it brought a unique perspective to how far Berlin has developed in a relatively short amount of time. Our 4-hour tour quickly turned to 5 hours and was well worth every minute.
Two days after our tour, we met up with Jean-Pierre for a lovely glass of bubbly before he walked us to a wonderful neighborhood Italian restaurant he recommended. After a picture in front of the restaurant, he left us in good hands. We spent the evening enjoying more bubbly, a fabulous meal, taking in the local hub-bub, and a very nice visit with the owner.
A truly unique and wonderful experience. We cannot wait to visit Berlin again and see our new friend, Jean-Pierre!
Of Note: If possible, we recommend the tour at the beginning of your stay. It's a great way to acquaint yourself to the city. If you want to spend more time at a particular location, you then have time to go back. Jean-Piierre will peak your interest on so many different places you see.
