by accident we found the heckmannhöfe - located between Oranienburger and Auguststarsse and it was a really nice location with roses, birds, some shops and an italian restaurant where we enjoyed a pizza

A lovely collection of small boutique shops with a theatre and restaurant and a couple of cafes, well worth a stroll of a few minutes from Hackesher Market area to find this hidden gem

About 50 yards beyond the New Synagogue and less than a kilometer from Museum Island, a passageway leads into a pleasant courtyard with a restaurant, outdoor cafe, theater and the boutique of local fashion designer Nix. The founder and owner of the house waited on me herself, pulling together outfits that were stylish without being outlandish. Every item was expertly sewn from beautiful fabrics (e.g., Liberty cotton) and fibbers (e.g., a hand-knit sweater) in seasonal colors. The prices were reasonable, especially given the quality. An assistant even shortened a pair of pants for me at Nix's workshop next door.

If you love art and you also love to go to trendy but not crowded touristic places, then this place is for you. Located next door to New Synagogue and Kunsthof, with nice art galleries, boutiques, coffee shops and a restaurant. Very quite and peaceful place for taking a break. Don't skip Bonbonmacerie :-) It's a local hand-made candy factory.

This passage is very easy to walk past off Oreinburgstrasse but not to be missed. It is an atmospheric mix of modern and traditional and contains a number of different and original outlets. Iti is the perfect place to relax with a book and a cup of something delicious.
We were fairly late in the day but the deliciously sweet scents arising from Bonbon Macherei was enticing and we could watch some rhubarb sweets being made then taste them. Great presents for home. Our next stop was the Nannuoshan Tea House with understated restful decor, lovely views of the courtyard and a tea menu from all the most aromatic and delicate high quality teas. We paid 12€ for a pot of Dong Ding tea, an exquisite pale yellow floral Oolong tea between the 3 of us. The beautiful aroma and aftertaste remained all evening - a pure delight.
The other art and clothes outlets in the arcade were closed but there are definitely more gems to discover. I shall be back.

It's surprisingly nice when you see a backyard that offers quite a lot of space. It's also very well-kept, and you'll want to spend a little longer there.
