Max Liebermann was one (of Germany's most important artists in the last century. He was also an opponent of the Nazi regime. His house is next to the Brandenburg Gate and worth a visit. Admission is free and there are exhibits on Libermann's life. Clean restrooms and a small gift shop. Many of Liebermann's paintings are on display in the Berlin museums - he was a cross between realism and impressionism and the paintings are outstanding. His life story is also worth learning..

Max Liebermann was an important artist, and his lakeside retreat at Wannsee holds some of his works. There are notably some scenes of the property itself. The family’s main house was not this one, but a town mansion near the Brandenburg gate. To me Liebermann will always be the man who made this remark when Hitler came to power: “You just can’t eat as much as you want to puke.” Try to keep his wit in mind when you go to Wannsee.

Outstanding experience seeing part of the 1938 London exhibition where it originated. The gardens have been loving restored. Looking forward to seeing it in the spring.

Since Liebermann’s Wannsee home is 2 Blocks from Final Solution Konferenz estate, went. It is impossible to figure out how or where to buy tickets, woman took forever to look over my student id, couldn’t figure out how to get from ticket/gift shop cottage to mail house. And when finally got on right path it leads (with no railings on stairs) to front door where little sign sends you to door on left side. Downstairs are 2 Huge cafe sitting rooms with ordering counter size of broom closet. Everyone knocking into everyone else. Crazy!!! Food (microwaved) mediocre at best. Tickets are timed (which no one at ticket counter mentioned). Climb steep stairs by cafe order counter to find the art in 4-5 SMALL rooms jammed with people. But not one word of English. Long, probably interesting texts for each painting in German. So disappointing. Got to look at wonderful art but experience beyond frustrating. Finding way out just as Difficult! Gorgeous setting
