Alex was highly recommended by a close New York friend who is a seasoned traveler. With three days in Berlin, we secured Alex for a private two day tour. At our request and because of the potential for colder weather; he secured a private driver and a van for our touring adventure. Alex is an extremely knowledgeable historian and a fun, interesting, cultured and hip guy. Alex promptly retrieved us at our hotel each morning. The van was impeccable and the van driver cordial. What we saw in two days with Alex would have taken us a week to see alone — and of course without any historical understanding. In addition to the famous tour sights like Museums Island, Gendarmenmarket, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin wall, Brandenburg Gate and the Jewish District, Alex showed us the difference between West and East Berlin by taking us“off the beaten path” to see hippy subculture, bohemian neighborhoods, and street art. The contrast in the two tour days was a great way to take in this amazing city. There is probably no better way to tour this city and probably no better tour guide. Thank you Alex!

I sound like lots of the other raving reviewers, which is good! — We booked an afternoon bike tour with Alex. He sat down with us, and gave us a concise, well explained history of Berlin, mostly about the Cold War. He gave us a choice of a tour of the major sites or of bohemian neighborhoods and street art. We wisely chose the later. It was our first full day of a 7 day trip to Berlin and thank goodness for Alex because he gave us so much knowledge about the history and the buildings of Berlin, so that when we walked the city alone, we knew what we were looking at and understood why the city was laid out as it was. (Ie there is a looong and wide avenue of communistic-style apartment buildings. This is because this was where the final battle or one of the final battles during WW2 occurred. Because everything was destroyed and this portion of the city was in the hands of the communists, it was rebuilt in the style of communist architecture.) We walked past this Avenue every day and because of Alex’s explanation we knew what we were looking at. You will not only get a history lesson and a bike ride through touristy areas and places where the locals go, but you will get to sample the most delicious food. Alex knows his food!! We stopped at a strawberry stand and had the most outstanding organic strawberries. On top of this, Alex is a professional cameraman, so you will get professional pictures of yourself that make you look much younger and thinner. Our best and most prized pictures of this trip were taken by Alex. Our 3 hour tour of Berlin turned into a 5 hour tour and I didn’t look at the time once! We loved this tour so much, that we went Potsdam with Alex! Another glorious day!!!!! We went places and rode on paths that only locals know about, ate the best gelato, salad with in-season white asparagus and strawberries (which of course Alex told us about), and of course got even more fabulous pictures. The best part is the Alex seems to genuinely care and wants you to have the bicycle tour that is best for you. Thank you, Alex for enriching our trip and for 2 glorious days that we will always remember.

Traveling in Berlin on my own, first time in Germany. I was only here for two days and Alex made it his mission to show me all the best spots. I don’t ride a bike that often so he was happy to walk with me to do the tour instead. So thankful and such a wonderful introduction to Berlin. He knows everything from 1000s of years ago history to pop culture and all the cool spots today. So worth it! Recommend you do on your first day, then you know what to go back to!

Found these guys working outside a cool coffee shop. The bikes were brilliant and we just wanted to make our own way around Berlin without a tour. The advice and suggestions the guys gave was comprehensive and spot on. Hidden treasures and quirky markets and shops.

Excellent! We did two private tours one in Berlin and the other in Potsdam. Alex the guise was a very interesting personality and had an immense ocean of knowledge. We had our mom and dad with us who were a little restricted on the activities they could do , he made sure to make it comfortable for them and fun at the same time also. The private tour s are a little more pricey but they are worth every penny!
