Volksbuhne is a beautiful old theatre that first opened in 1914 to provide entertainment at affordable prices for the people of Berlin.
It's slogan of Die Kunst Den Volke translates as " art to the people ".
Heavily damaged during WW2 it was rebuilt post war to its magnificent best and is a great looking building your sure to see if your in Rosa Luxemburg Platz.
I took a few photos when the building was illuminated at night,it just kooks cool .
Easy to find on Rosa Luxemburg Platz and well worth checking out.

If you are coming to Berlin and are able to spend an evening watching a performance, this would be a great place to spend some time in. We were lucky to coincide with a really engaging piece and the venue itself is worth lingering in before and after a show. The design is beautiful and the interior feels quite grand but elegant and minimal. The bar is good and doesn't charge the earth for drinks (unlike in the UK). Very easy to find close to the Rosa Luxemburg Platz underground.

Volksbuhne Berlin is an elegant looking theatre building that if your on Rosa Luxemburg Platz your sure to pass.
This theatre is over 100 years old having opened its doors to the public in 1914 and it's original premise was to bring theatre to the general public at affordable prices, the inscription " Die Kunst Dem Volke " translating to " art to the people " was the slogan of this theatre for years.
Heavily damaged during WW2 but restored to its former glory between 1950 --1954 Volksbuhne Berlin is a really good place to visit
We were in this part of town heading to a couple of craft beer bars and passed this interesting building,I took a few photos of the theatre and although I never ventured in I was suitably impressed with the look of the theatre and even more so about the history of the splendid building.
Very easy to locate on Rosa Luxemburg Platz in the Mitte area.
Well worth checking out

The style and history of the building and the area of Berlin where it is located is more than sufficient reason to visit this theatre. I enjoyed the additional benefit of a wonderful performance of Murmel Murmel - Dieter Roth's ridiculous but clever production. It was a Monday night in December but the theatre was packed. The performance was excellent but I enjoyed the audience involvement and their wonderful playfulness in response. Berliners know how to enjoy themselves

We saw the play "My God, Father"!
The Volksbühne is a very beautiful, traditional old Berlin theater and very centrally located. However, the acoustics were terrible at this performance. The actors were either whispering or were hoarse when they spoke loudly. I didn't understand anything (!)! I thought I was the only one, but as I left I realized that many people felt the same way. What a pity!!!
