It is the best museum I've ever visited. Spacious venues and lots of german famous contemporary artists. I have seen their works in magazines and blogs. I feel blessed for seeing them in person! Personally, it was a life-changing experience. Highly recommend!

Personale molto scortese, da denuncia. Hi, I was visiting the museum with my family on 01/27 and after the visit we stayed until late in the shop. After that - a few min before closing time - my daughter had to use the restroom as she was feeling a little sick. Regardless of us being there, as I said, before closing time, and regardless her asking multiple times, access was denied to her by three employees. She felt sick outside of the museum and we had to ask someone in a cafe. This is unheard of and utterly impolite. Next time maybe a little bit of humanity could be appreciated. Thank You.…

Housed in the converted train station this Museum has huge exhibition spaces to show temporary and permanent exhibitions - and a fantastic gift shop. Currently the main space has a sonic installation pumping out industrial beats which go brilliantly with the vaulted iron-work of the former platform area. Curation at its best. Other galleries have a rather strange biennial type exhibit - a lot of video and large format installations. I’m not one to judge but I didn’t get it. There are a few Warhol’s here which are fun, a Kapoor and a quite brilliant study of the isolation and solitude of Anne Frank, juxtaposed against the scrutiny under which she remains in death. This museum rewards the patient visitor, not the one who whizzes round and wonders what it’s all really about. …

Went to the Berggruen Museum and the Hamburger Bahnhof for modern art because the Neue Nationalgalerie is closed for renovations. Except for the very well done audio installation by Cevdet Erek in the main hall, I was pretty disappointed with this museum. The permanent collection of work from the 60’s is poorly presented in unflattering light in large warehouse type rooms. The display looks like it has been left untouched for years and years. And, located off on a separate wing accessible by a convoluted hallway with multiple up and down staircases, there was no reasonable handicap access for my wife to see this large portion of the museum. …

Maybe we visited during a down time, the focus of the exhibits were "local talent" and they were mostly just odd. I enjoy contemporary art and seek in out in most of the cities I visit, and I wasn't impressed. The Warhol which I really wanted to see wasn't on display, nor were the Twombly or Rauschenberg. Visit the Museum Berggruen, it is excellent.…
