It all started when a group of us flew into Berlin to catch up for a weekend, as you do! We dropped into this great burger restaurant for a bite and began chatting to the locals, looking for ideas for the rest of the night. It just so happened the person sitting near us was the proprietor, who also had... More

Nice hidden cocktailbar with superfriendly staff. The cocktails were okay and not too expensive, and the 20's atmosphere was very agreeable, also because the place wasn't overcrowded. I had a good time sipping cocktails at this bar!

Its a great 1920s style Speakeasy bar with great cocktails and nice atmosphere loved how you had to knock to get in, drinks were fairly priced for these kind of bars would go back time and time again when in Berlin. Only minor downfall is its a smoking bar but I knew that going in so accepted it. PS loved... More

We came upon this on trip advisor and asked the cab to take us here. Upon arriving we thought we had went to a wrong address or the place closed but one of the bartenders came out for a smoke and we knew we were in the right place. The place is great and the best cocktail bar we crossed... More

Having come to this amazingly stylish and classy 20ies style bar for years now, I felt the need to drop a few lines about this place. Cocktails? Amazing. Fresh. Tasty. Atmosphere? Classy, artsy, smooth. Staff? Cool. Smoking? Oh yes! Drop by here for a more relaxed and off the mainstream experience of Mitte nightlife.

Ordered a martini. They used a bit of noilly prat vermouth in a spray, a pre-cooled bottle of tanguray gin and a lemon zest as garning. The atmosphere was good and I got a proper explanation about the careful choosing of the products when I asked the to. A non touristy place what is a good thing.

Super hidden behind large metal door-this a place you wouldn't want to miss if you like cocktails, dimmed lights and smooth oldies tunes. Berlin definitely has its hidden gems.

Reingold is a very cool cocktail bar that is not touristy in a touristy part of Berlin. Located right off Freidrichstrasse its very easy to get to and worth the trip!

Read about this bar in Lonely Planet so decided to venture on up to it. Really glad we did, exactly the type of place we were looking for. Very cool speakeasy vibe, with impeccably dressed friendly and helpful staff. Don't be put off by the iron door and ringing the bell to get in, it's totally worth it.

You have to ring a bell to be let in, just like a speakeasy. The wait staff are dressed as during the era of the 1920s and the cocktail list is very unique and the cocktails are yummy! The only drawback is that it is a smoker bar, but smoking is only allowed after 9 PM (they open at 7PM)

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
