Very disappointing exhibition on Beirut art. Not the art itself but the presentation which was dismal. None of the artists except perhaps Etel Adnan would be recognisable to a Western audience so providing clear information to give context was key. However the info displays were uninformative and, worse, they were mainly in tiny writing. You had to get really close to read the info and if someone else was there you had no hope. There were a number of videos in French I think which were barely audible and no subtitles even in German. I lost interest long before the end. Final bugbear, I had to pay for two exhibitions (15E) even though the second one was on photography which I had zero interest in.

The museum and shop were well worth a visit. Its a beautiful building and the ceramic stair rods are worth seeing. Entry to the building and shop is free and there is a manned free bag storage facility in the basement. Many of the exhibitions are free to enter. I paid for the “Indigo waves” exhibit, which I thought was not worth the money.

Can not recommend this institution because of its security staff.
We had been to several other museums before this with our covid masks on.
They thought our masks were the wrong ones - and briefly rejected us at the door.
No courtesy, no service, just rejection - and no good impression of the Gropius Bau.
I think you should get another security staff - sorry.

The return of the thin white duke/major tom/ziggy/aladin sane ....nope just the awesome display of creativity and talent that was and is David Bowie. I was there for nearly 3 hours and my senses were working overtime. Always wanted to go to Berlin but coupling going with this being on at the same time was out of this world. Catch this its on until August.....watch that man!

Such a gorgeous building! The Garden-themed contemporary art exhibition on the main floor is fun and fascinating, with several different artists' installations on the theme of the garden--political, whimsical, subversive. Yoyoi Kasama's polka dot garden room--a dark garden room smelling of jasmine--screenings on a ceiling--a "lawn" of broken green glass! The Israeli food in the cafe includes very fresh salads using greens/herbs from the hydroponic gardens in the cafe itself, plus middle eastern dishes and flavours. My salad with grilled zucchini was very good on a humid day; the chicken schnitzel was appealing too. Nice coffee, fresh mint tea and some nice cakes. Service might be slow.

We loved this visit. Is literally next to the Topography of terror venue. Tickets are expensive but worth going in. The 2 exhibits were saw, were pure contemporary art (Ana Mendietta and Philippe Parreno). We loved Parreno and what made it more interesting is watching the contemporary scene mixed with that building that is amazing!

I stopped in with my two teenagers and we absolutely LOVED the immersion exhibit. It was fascinating and totally absorbing. As a full disclosure, we like the experience of contemporary art exhibits and have visited several in various cities. This one is at the top of our list. The museum is nice on its own merits, but if Immersion is still there and you like contemporary art exhibits, don’t miss it!!

Consistently good exhibitions, well done and well run. The building is beautiful. Don't let the new 'Terror' museum sidetrack you from this one.

This place do not work like a single museum but rather as a venue for different exibitions that you have to pay for individually (each costed like 6-10€) and if you want to see all of them you can easilly pay in total more than you would for entering the louvre in Paris etc so seriously overpriced compared to much larher and interesting museums!
We only visited the Berenice Abbott (US Photogrspher) that was quite good but not very large.

Muchas gracias
