...it has 12 seats, none with a back to them. The earlier comments about being left to queue outside are correct, even in the pouring rain and despite having space immediately inside, under cover. I disagree with some of the comments about the art. It's great to see work by known artists that are relatively unknown pieces.

Long queue to enter. Doorman would let 30 out then 30 in. The joy he took with his power of refusing access and smiling totally ruined my visit. My advice ... If there's a queue and there's a 5 ft 7 guy on the door ... Go somewhere else.

Normal museum quality not particularly stunning. Beautiful building with lovely marble hallways and stairs. Lifts worked efficiently

There are a lot of paintings in there, and many of them were intriguing. I in particular found the paintings about Frederick the great, and those by Caspar David Friedrich and Karl Lessing very enjoyable. The audio guide, which is included by the ticket, also covers many exhibits. Take your time through it. If you have a pass, maybe even visit it on multiple days, because trying to go through all of it in one afternoon will leaves you mentally overloaded.

As far as content is concerned, this museum offers some real masterpieces, but the focus is mainly on German art of the 18th and 19th century. If you like this period (German romanticism, e.g.), or would like to learn about it, then this is the place. As far as presentation is concerned, I hardly know a museum which is more beautiful in terms of architecture and interior design. Absolutely marvelous. My favorite rooms are the sculptures from Berlin artists, and the section where the painters belonging to the Romanticism period are displayed - foremost Casper David Friedrich, with the Mönch am Meer and Die Abtei. Masterpieces which will leave a deep impression.
