Address
Neighborhood: Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.

Unfortunately, due to Finn Air losing our luggage and hours spent in the airport, we missed the palace tour but hope to go back later. The dinner and concert (even in our travel clothes) were wonderful! We were lucky to have a mostly Mozart night, but other events would no doubt be equally entertaining with these talented performers. Check the calendar! They only offer selected dates.

I had a VIP ticket for the Tour, Dinner & Concert in Charlotteburg with my partner on 14th march 2015. The concert was this: http://www.residenzkonzerte.berlin/english/concerts-und-tickets/masquerade-venetian-temptation.html

The service at the Venue was out-standing, we were greeted with the unbelieavable hospitability and everything was as perfect as you could imagine it can be. Food was great and the actors hosting the whole event were just plain brilliant. Talented opera singers and the whole "band" put together a real treat for people who like classical music and enjoy eating well.

We booked over 2 months ago. Took the day from 15.00 getting ready instead of enjoying Berlin to look extra nice. Being overbooked, we were advised to walk to a restaurant 10 minutes away for a meal worth of 39 euros. We bought the VIP tickets worth 268 euros. Then walk 10 minutes back (in our heels) to see the concert. Not happy

Of the three weeks I spent in Europe this June, our evening at Charlottenberg Orangerie was THE WORST! My daughter and I spent over 220 Euros on dinner, drinks, and the concert... and in exchange we got insulting & rude treatment from the wait staff.

The food is tasteless and expensive; the dining room is hot & airless. So we left the dining room at 7:30 pm to proceed to the concert hall for the 8 pm concert.

Whilst waiting in our seats in the concert hall, I was called out by the Maitre’d who told me I had not paid my bill. I informed him that I had.

5 minutes later, the general manager came in to tell me that I had not paid my bill. So I accompanied her to the staff that had received my payment, and this person acknowledged that I had indeed paid her.

Instead of apologizing, the Maitre’d told me it was my fault because I should have paid him directly. I told him that in all the restaurants I’ve been to in the world, any staff is capable of receiving payments, and that he should have asked his staff before accusing a customer of this kind of behavior. He laughed.

I then asked the General Manager for an email to which I could address a complaint. She said, “I will not give you that.”

So I wrote Daniela Scholz & Maximilian Klemme, who are with the management of Orangerie. To no avail.

I suggest you give this a boycott until they show some respect for customers.

Dear C W, I am very shocked to hear what happended to you and your daughter that evening and I kindly like to appologize for this incident, even I acknowledge that there is maybe no possible excuse for this experience at all. We hope indeed that you will give us a second chance and getting in touch with us again so we can make it up to you. I wish all the best for you and your daughter and many great travel experiences! Self-service. Went in for a coffee as it was wet and cold out. Not many visitors, rustic decor, cosy.

The show itself was amazing. However it was very difficult to find, we found many people wondering around trying to find it too. Also it would have been nice to be able to take the drinks inside during the performance. Overall, it was very good and I’d recommend it.

The musicians were excellent (even though one of the singers was not to our taste).
The 'announcer' was embarrassing. He fell down the steps at the front of the stage and could not remember the name of one of the musicians.
The costumes were average and the set-up cheaply done.
Do not pay extra for 'A'. 'A' was one row, then 'B' was right behind us. 'C' seats would be perfectly good for a night out.

Enjoyed the Dinner & Concert. Felt the seating at Dinner could have been set up by combining the numbers at Tables. We were two & asked to be joined to others who were individual. Always nice to meet others as obviously a Tourist adventure.
