This was a tour from Warnemunde organized with TJ Travel. Although based in St. Petersburg and specializing in tours of St Petersburg (which we also did with them), they also offer tours of the Baltics, Scandinavia and surrounding countries. TJ was the perfect host, pick up and return to ship on time, so don't fret about the 6-hr return trip.... More

We stopped in Warnemunde for a day on a Princess Regal cruise last July 31st, and Joanna K. arranged a van to pick us at the port to take us to Berlin for the day. Thank you dear Joanna for you attention to details and all the help provided, and kudos to our guide Ulli and our driver Marietta, we... More

My father and I decided on the lazy approach for day one hoping to take note of areas or attractions that we'd like to get to and see. The guide was humorous and informative, his job I know, but he appeared to enjoy telling us about the place. There was no boredom in his voice. Well worth the money as... More

One stop on our Baltic Cruise was Warnemunde, Germany. We booked a private tour of Berlin with TJ Travel, headquarters in Russia, since we were also using them for a tour day tour of St Petersburg. Our ship put in to Warnemunde early in the morning where we were met your driver Thomas. After a pleasant 2-1/2 hour drive into... More

We were arriving at Warnemunde off the M/S Marina and I wanted to arrange a private shore excursion. Berlin City Tours provided prompt confirmation of arrangements and kept me updated. We were met at the ship by Bernd. who provided us with a most interesting & informative tour, lasting from 9.00am to 6.30pm. We travelled by rail, with walking tours... More

Beware of hop on hop off yellow bus tours. There are two yellow bus companies. One has many buses and seems very professional. The other one has 2 or 3 buses at the most and is horrible with service and attitude. Do not use Stadtrundfahrtbuüro BErlin Sightseeing Berlin. We were left standing at a remote stop for almost an hour... More

We were on a cruise ship and wanted a city tour of Berlin. This was a great option at a much more reasonable cost. We were met at the port and transported on a very comfortable motorcoach to the city where we met up with a wonderful guide, Boris. He was exceptionally, knowledgeable very friendly. I would highly recommend, you... More

We travelled on the red and green route over two days and managed to see most sights. Special praise for bus tour guide Eleanor who was extremely interesting and included so much background information. She also recommended that we take the Berlin Wall walking tour with Andreas and we were very pleased that we did. He was interesting and amusing.... More

We were collected at Warnemunde from our cruise ship by our cheerful driver Sven and enjoyed a comfortable 3 hour drive to Berlin where we met our tour guide, Theo. The coach was modern and had every amenity. Our day tour was a terrific overview of this modern city and Theo was very knowledgeable and interesting. To our amazement 20... More

Overall this was a decent way to get a live guided tour of the Sanssouci palace in English. However, we felt a lot of time was wasted driving all around Potsdam to look at buildings that were barely visible through fences and past trees, ostensibly to provide historical background. At the end of the Sanssouci portion of the tour, we... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
