About
Where Pac Man lives The first ever museum for computer games worldwide was founded in Berlin. You can embark on a magic time travel trip covering six decades of gaming history. Including Giant Joystick and Painstation, Arcade Hall plus the Wall of Hardware. A Berlin highlight in the trendy borough of Friedrichshain Kreuzberg. A mere 5 minutes away from Alexanderplatz (U5 Weberwiese). You can reach our museum very comfortably by cycling here. Whether you come from Alexanderplatz or from Warschauer Straße/Frankfurter Tor, you will find wide lanes for cycling on both sides of Karl-Marx-Allee and traffic lights for crossing. We have a number of cycle stands right next to our entrance. If you wish to start a cycling trip from here, feel free to ask for a free copy of Bike Map, which has a very convenient format to fit into almost any pocket.

Neighborhood: Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.

- Janet L167 contributionsGrandchildren gained some knowledgeNot sure why this isint hi-lighted more on the travel guide. The Museum is interactive as well as educational. The information provided at this museum is phenomenal, it gives a brilliant insight into the history of gaming. I think it suits adults & teenagers more than young children. Not only that it is located on Karl Marx Allee, formally Stalin Allee, which is lined with monumental eight-story buildings designed in the socialist classicism of the Soviet Union.Visited February 2023Written February 17, 2023
- Ian38 contributionsGreat for all the familyFantastic and informative museum about the history and development of video games. Plenty of interactive exhibits and opportunities to get hands on with some old arcade games and consoles. Entry price is more than reasonable and you can easily spend well over an hour here despite it's small size. Have been here with both my wife and parents over the years and even those that don't like games find it enjoyable even just to see. Expect it to be busy at times but be patient and enjoy what's on offer - it's a unique experience - but also don't go in expecting an arcade! This is a museum first with some (probably less than 20) games on offer, but still fantastic!Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 29, 2023
- wickywaawaa32 contributionsGreat fun morning!!Exceeded my expectations! Really went there for the kids but the adults had just as much fun!! Not a huge place but cleverly laid out and lots of try your hand at - didn't expect so much! Couldn't spend a full day there (unless you are really, really REALLY into computer games!) but it filled a morning and a bit. Thrilled to see that so many things worked as they probably have a tough shift!!!!Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 20, 2023
- Sarah P6 contributionsHours of fun for kids and adultsFascinating tour of computer games, that was very nostalgic for parents as well as absorbing for preteens - who experienced the games we grew up with. All very interactive. Had to tear them away from frogger, space invaders, Tetris, Pac-Man, and pong! By far the museum we spent longest at on entire trip to Berlin. No cafe but places nearby. Very small and uninspired shop so also a cheap morning out.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 29, 2023
- Lou B11 contributionsFun for all the familyWe spent a fun couple of hours here with our two kids (6 and 12 years old). There’s a lot of facts about gaming history, which is interesting as well as lots of different games and consoles to have a go on. There are retro arcade games as well as home consoles to try. My husband and I both loved the 90s bedroom set ups as it brought back happy memories, I particularly enjoyed playing Mario! Definitely worth a visit, it’s close to a U-Bahn station so easy to get to from anywhere in Berlin. It’s worth prebooking tickets online. We had a 10:30am time slot and it wasn’t too busy.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 28, 2023

Great Infos and a lot of old arcade games. The museum is very interactive and allows to experience the old times through joysticks or video games. The rooms are decorated in a lovely old way and my mother had a great look back to her times.

We had a great time going there.
A nostalgic trip down memory lane for adults, and insightful, informative fun for teenagers. We enjoyed playing the different games and consoles. Teenagers did not enjoy the information, but that is expected. We spent 2 hours there, which is GREAT for such a low price!

Great concept and fab range of old consoles.
Terrible at limiting numbers in rooms. Not enough staff to enforce. Parents leave ferrel kids to run around. Exhibits should have headphones but I guess do to covid they’ve been removed yet hands are touching all joysticks! Could be much better.

Really nice to learn about the history of computer games and play a few games yourself. I would've loved this place more if I were a kid. But for adults you still get to see many of your childhood gaming consoles again. The shop sells some computer game related stuff, but you could also get these from other gaming stores as well. Would be nice if they sell something more original and related to the museum.

This was a total waste of time. It is a VERY small exhibition that's poorly maintained. A lot of the computers did not work. No English information. Avoid.

Spent a couple of hours here, but could have spent a lot longer! Great fun for kids and adults. Loads of arcade style games which brought back great memories - Frogger, Space Invaders, Paperboy and PacMan for the 80’s kids to name just a few.
After a heavy morning at the Stasi Museum, this was the perfect antidote!

Are there lots of games for kids to play on? I'm sure I will like the nostalgia but my 9yo and 12yo will want to be hands on.

There were some old consoles playable when I was there, like Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, and Super Nintendo, as well as some 80s arcade games. The website implies that it's still hands on, so I think there's a good chance.
Hi. I was there on 6th July, 2016 and fell there in love.
On Wednesday, the 6th July, 2016 about lunchtime 1:00, I took a look into the small arcade room of the museum and saw there a girl, playing pacman on an old vintage table with her dad.
She spend the most time in the arcade room.
She was about 15 years old and had a blond ross tail and black shoes (like Sneakers).
Was someone also there on Wed, the 6th July 2016 and could remember this girl or had seen her also too?

Hi, will your museum be closed on any days between December 26 and 30 please? I understand that you are open 7 days per week but I want to be sure winter hours at holiday time will be the same. Thank you.

I am not working in the museum either, typically all musea are open on these days (public is free so you want them in) so January 1st and Xmas will be closed others days if they are smart the open the doors.
Use the contactform on the website to get a response from the museum itselves (sorry rules forbid to put the URL here)
Good luck have fun! happy to help
