Overview
More
The Berlin Wall Memorial is the central memorial site of German division, located in the middle of the capital. Situated at the historic site on Bernauer Strasse, it extends along 1.4 kilometers of the former border strip. The memorial contains the last piece of Berlin Wall with the preserved grounds behind it and is thus able to convey an impression of how the border fortifications developed until the end of the 1980s. The events that took place here together with the preserved historical remnants and traces of border obstacles on display help to make the history of Germany's division comprehensible to visitors. The memorial is part of the Berlin Wall Foundation, which also includes the Marienfelde Refugee Center Museum, the central site dedicated to the history of flight and emigration in divided Germany. MOBILE TOURGUIDE Visitors to the Berlin Wall Memorial who have a smartphone or a tablet computer with internet access at their disposal have the opportunity to select an individual tour of the memorial grounds for themselves on the memorial's mobile website berliner-mauer.mobi.

The museum and surrounding area had a lot of information about the wall and differences between east and west. A great museum.

Free entry. No queues, very informative with lots of displayed information. Quite moving and upsetting. Toilets downstairs. Guides available if you want. This is built on site of old Gestapo HQ which was demolished. Remnants of the old wall and building still stand,

This is a discrete and well organised free memorial, well away from the high tech and brash tourist traps elswhere that don't honour those who suffered and died during the cold war.

The memorial contains a piece of the wall still left exactly how it used to be. You can do the whole walk following the posts which mark the path that the wall had, with plagues placed along the way commemorating those who passed away. The...More

No one can truly appreciate the freedom we enjoy in the west until you visit this memorial. It was extremely emotional. Don’t forget your camera!

The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights
like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum
Island. The central location makes this one of the
city's most expensive places to live. It is here the
oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence
of some significant transformations, as well. The
gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets
between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given
