Careful parking
Apr 2021 • Couples
The island is nice and the peacocks are beautiful animals.
Beware if you are coming by car: there are some reserved parkings with very confusing and not clear signs, the police goes around removing cars with a tow truck continuously on busy days. It is obviously a scam to earn the parking fines and the towing fines from visutors, so be careful...

Nature Walk
Sep 2020
It was not far from Berlin, we stopped to eat a wonderful Cafe before jumping on the Ferry. The Ferry is cash only as are many things around Berlin. We had our 8 month old daughter with us in a carrier. The island is a very nice walk in Nature, with great views of the water. we saw 2 peacocks, lots of trees to provide shade. Many seniors on this trip.

Wonder Island
Sep 2020
If you looking for a place away from the busy city, then peacock island is perfect. You can find a small castle with peacocks roaming around. (castle will be renovated until 2024 and is closed until then.)

Wonderful escape from busy Berlin
Jan 2020 • Couples
Like others, I was wondering if this place was worth visiting in winter. As it turns out, it's absolutely doable and I can recommend the experience.

After figuring out the bus and ferry schedules, I decided to get up early enough to reach the island at 12. That gave me enough time to explore it at leisurely pace before the last ferry back at 15:45. Two hours were enough for me to walk around and see all of the main buildings from outside - the palace, unfortunately, is closed for renovations until 2024, and the dairy opens in April.

Still, there's plenty to see outdoors and lots of wonderful photo opportunities. I definitely recommend waiting for a sunny day - the river is stunning. Despite it being January, there were plenty of animals around (not only peacocks - I had lots of fun observing all rare kinds of hens and pheasants at the fowlery), and the best part - almost no people! So I can definitely recommend visiting this place off-season.

All in all, a wonderful day trip and I'm looking forward to coming here again. I attached some practical info in the photos.

Beautiful hourly getaway
Feb 2019
I love the quiet atmosphere on the island. Not many tourists come here but Berliners and Brandenburgers which brings a very different atmosphere to this place than any green spot in Berlin city.

A fairytale castle in a beautiful garden
Sep 2019
To cross the Havel by ferry boat— and get enchanted by the atmosphere of a beautiful park and to look at the mock medieval palace built upon request of King Friedrich Wilhelm II— trying to escape the emperial protocol atmosphere and to frolic with his mistress.Nice to see some peacocks— no coffee shop on this charming island. After your return to the mainland you could enjoy a rest at the restaurant besides the ferry- “ terminal”.Tge quality of the FoD there “ mediocre”.

What a find! A beautiful and peaceful place to visit for the afternoon to escape from the busy centre of Berlin. Once in a lifetime stuff!

almost magical

Cute, tranquil little island. I am glad they don't allow cars nor bikes on the island so that the animals can wonder freely. A haven for peacocks of this island. Arrive early to beat the crowds. There is a food stall serving drinks, sausages and cakes so you can rest on the Liegewiese. Perfect for everyone who loves animals and nature.

Not a superb destination
Aug 2019 • Family
We didn't find it as interesting as places like potsdam. The island is beautiful but not astuning. Ot is also forbiden to settle and make a picnick. And not very recommanded with a 4 year old baby, since the scenes did not worth that much of walking.

Great place for a walk
Sep 2018
It always feels like on holiday when we go there. Taking the ferry and then walking around the beatiful maintained island is great. Take a guided tour through the castle
