I loved walking through this park - my companion not so much! It is a huge park but on a hot day there is plenty of shade to escape the sun. Lots of statues dotted about and little ponds and lakes. And there is a nice beer garden by one of the lakes (Cafe am Neuen See) for s beer... More

You can grill your sheep or read a book or sunbathe naked or play soccer with your friends. All is possible in this huge city park. If you happen to be around in the summer by night you might even hear the nightingales singing!

I love to see parkland in cities- a wonderful place to escape intensity of city. Tiergarten is not only such a place it has been in existence for centuries originally bring the Prussian royalties hunting grounds. So a very historic spot. An abundance of trees, shrubs and plants with managed, manicured, and natural growth areas. Worth spending some time exploring... More

What a beautiful sanctuary in the midst of a very bustling Berlin. Everywhere one looked while on tour, there was a forest of cranes building up the city. Construction traffic was a pain, but the gardens were a nice respite.

We cycled thbrough this from Mitte to the Olympic Stadium on a lovely hot Saturday in July. Loads of green areas to sit and eat and drink, and a little portacabin loo which was useful to find. Lovely place away from the bustle of the roads and business of Berlin life !

Big part, well matured now. Plenty of wooded paths and open grassy glens. Lovely Beer Garden with a wee lake also available near the zoo.

Our hotel was nearby so went through the Tiergarten quite a few times. Wonderful to see so many trees in the middle of a big city. Our only surprise one day to see people sun-bathing completely nude ~100m from the trails

Great place for a shortish run in the central Berlin. When running along the perimeter of the park you can see the jewish memorial (a lot of grey cement blocks), the US Embassy etc...

We spent a warm day wandering round this park. Whilst the quality of planting was not overwhelming it was a very active and well used .

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
