We love cities, and especially cities that value green space. Berlin has done a beautiful job of preserving this park. Well worth a walk through and even a day with the family spent enjoying nature.

There isn't much to differentiate Tiergarten from Central Park in NY or Golden Gate Park in SF. Lawns, shrubbery, paths, people sunbathing and riding bikes, etc. It is nice to have a green spot in the middle of a city and Tiergarten fills the bill. Go there if you're overwhelmed by the traffic and crowds of the city but otherwise... More

The memorial to the murdered Jews is located within Tiergarten. It reminded me a lot of Central Park in New York City. You should spend a lot of time here if you wanted, but I only walked through a little part of it for about 30 minutes. It's located very close to Reichstag.

We visited Tiergarten by taking the M28 bus from Anhalt Bahnhof and it was an extremely pleasant walk from the bus. There is a running / cycling track surrounded by lush trees and a few water bodies. Close to the south exit there is a cafe / beergarden there which is called Cafe am Neuen See and is absolutely exceptional... More

People liken Tiergarten with New York Central Park, or maybe Vancouver Stanley Park. Having a huge green space in the centre of an urban city is a big attraction. Great fr strolling, running, biking, having a picnic. Great location and easy to get there. Considering most of the trees were cut down for firewood after the war, impressive how t... More

Fabulous green and shady walks in the middle of Berlin - accessible from lots of sights (Brandenburg Gate; Reichstag; Zoo) and well worth a relaxing hour or two. Would be even better on bikes as it is a huge park. We came across a wonderful beer garden (can't remember the name) where you can buy cheap and cheerful food and... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
