Oranienstr. was in a walking distance from our hotel in Mitte by Frierichstrasse station, so we walked it several times.
From an architectural point of view, the New Synagogue is certainly biggest attraction - striking edifice with a beautiful dome.
Walking the street you'll encounter many graffiti, some of them very big, on side bldg facades.
Best for us was a great choice of oriental food options: Japanese, Thai, Indian,..etc. Indian restaurant Amrit is amazing, read that review.

This street is located in Mitte, north of the River Spree. It runs from Friedrichstraße to Hackescher Markt.
In addition to numerous sights and beautiful buildings such as the New Synagogue, many bars and restaurants attract people here.
You can also find the big Monbijou Park next to this street.

Oranienburger Strasse in Berlin Mitte is just a few blocks away from the Friedrichstrasse train station in the heart of historic East Berlin. There's probably not another street in the city that's more dedicated to young travelers than this. More than just a few hotel/hostels are located on the street or just around the corner. It is home to Tacheles, the arts center of the alternative crowd in old socialist GDR, as well as Neue Synagoge, the synagogue targeted to be burned by the Nazis on Kristallnacht. There is a remarkable concentration of eateries and bars that cater to the younger crowd, lots of ethnic food but also a great traditional Berlin meals, all within a couple of blocks. Lots of open air cafés, big sidewalks and still room for bikes. It's a 5-10 minute walk across the Spree River to Museum Island and/or the German Historic Museum on Unter den Linden, or to Bertolt Brecht's home museum. A streetcar connects from Friedrichstadtpalast variety show palace on one end to Hackischer Markt, the Hackischer Höfe and the old historic Jewish section of Berlin on the other. The one proviso: Oranienburger Strasse turns into "der Strich" at night with lots of ladies of the night in high leather boots plying the trade, so families and youth groups need to be prepared, but it's all very safe and friendly. If you can't find a meal or a bar you like on Oranienburger Strasse, you are beyond picky.

Oranienburgerstrasse is the place to go if you want to see a real melange of small art galleries, one off boutiques and a fantastic range of restaurants to meet all pockets. The former Jewish quarter of Berlin it is clearly steeped in history which is respectfully treated. To see this modern vibrant Berlin, constantly re-inventing itself, as epitomised by Oranienburgerstrasse gave me hope for other places in the World

This is a very interesting neighborhood of the former East Berlin. Berlins oldest synagogue is located here and definitely worth visiting as the German government has fully restored it.

Oranienburger Straße is a street in central Berlin, the capital of Germany. It is located in the borough of Mitte, north of the River Spree, and runs south-east from Friedrichstraße to Hackescher Markt.
The street is popular with tourists and Berliners for its nightlife with numerous restaurants and bars. Formerly a centre of Jewish life in Berlin, the street contains the restored New Synagogue. Another tourist landmark is the Kunsthaus Tacheles, an alternative art center and night club. Oranienburger Straße is also known for relatively prominent street prostitution,[1] which is legal in Germany.
There are also two lesser known streets named "Oranienburger Straße" in Berlin, in Reinickendorf and in Lichtenrade.

Oranienburger Str. is in Berlin's city center. There is an endless number of bars located on the street. Great for an evening with friends.
Fun bars are "Las Cucarachas", which has a Salsa part in the back, where the weekend evenings are spent learning salsa (for free!) and practicing your moves.
Also, the "Sixties" is a fun American diner.
Once you're there, take a stroll through the "Hackesche Höfe" - beautiful places!

Stopped at the Arcotel Hotel on this street. The hotel was excellent and the area is really vibrant.
The area is great for people of all ages who like good bars, friendly people and good service.
Like football and cars we have a lot to learn from the Germans about quality service with a smile!
Aufsturz in particular is a great bar. However bear in mind that this area is pretty trendy at the moment so beer prices are higher than in several other parts of berlin. Still a must for anybody visiting Berlin.

This was our first time in Berlin (stayed at top of Orianburgerstrasse) and I was not disappointed! There were so many unique little shops, beautiful street art (not graffiti, it was spectacular), relaxed cafes, bars and restaurants. Pretty much any of the bars you stumble into you are in for a treat. Aufsturz was our favourite- massive beer selection, lovely staff, fantastic food that is pretty cheap, great atmosphere. You are really close to pretty much any sight seeing things you want to do, but also could just eat, drink and chill if you wanted to.
