My grandfather went to this school before world war 2, so I decided to pay a visit. It has definitely seen better days because a large portion of this school seems to be in disrepair. Also you can see a lot of Lenin art around this place.

This place is the star of Duolingo language course! And I'm personally so glad that I see it just for this reason.
The building itself is very monumental. The interesting thing that I hadn't heard about before is the floor window through which you can see area of an old library.

Easily noticed with its beautiful architecture.

Previously Prince's Henry Palace, then established as University and took the name of its founder Frederick Wilhelm. It took its current name in honour of Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt.

Humbold University is regarded as the world's preeminent university for natural sciences and is palyed a major role in breakthroughs in physics and sciences by its prominent professors such Albert Einstein. In addition it's among the most prestigious universities in the world for arts and humanities.

This greatness resulted in more than
than 55 Nobel Prize winners.

On a sunny day in early May 2015, after viewing a rather animated sculpture of Alexander von Humboldt a Prussian geographer, naturalist and explorer in Budapester Strasse opposite the Berlin Aquarium near the Zoologischer Garten we went onto the Humboldt University main building in Unter Den Linden. The naming of the University is in honour of both the founder Fredrick William Humboldt an educator and his brother Alexander the geographer. We took the entrance off Unter Den Linden after browsing the temporary daytime book stores in the front of the University building. Take the marble stairs up to the first floor and if you were a student of science at some point in life then you can get a bit of a buzz from the great vista of photographs of Nobel prize winners and famous scientists who worked in this University including Albert Einstein, Max Planck, Otto Hertz and range of iconic biochemists, chemists and physicists from the textbooks. Walk around the corridors and poke your head into some rooms where possible, particularly the assembly type hall at the top of the stairs and take in the atmosphere of a place of learning. We went outside into the grassed quadrangle area to have our lunch and watched the modern day students have theirs and then had a look around the lunch café which was full of students. Pop into the Uni shop on the bottom floor on the left hand side as you exit, just for a look before a final browse in the book stores outside. You’ll find plenty of English titles which the locals probably read to hone their English language skills.

The University has an amazing history and a long list of accomplished students and faculty. However, it is probably more known for it perfect site for pictures across from the Bebelplatz in the center of Berlin on Unter den Linden.
