Amazing story presentation

This is a huge exhibit with lots of info, plan to spend several hours there. It requires lots of reading almost all the boards are in German and English.

Our experience at The Story of Berlin was inconsistent. The upstairs exhibits focus on the history of Berlin from its beginnings until the Second World War. These themed rooms were confusing at best: the chronology is often unclear and one is continually bombarded with nonsensical flashing lights and bizarre looping sound effects. There are a number of mannequins wearing period... More

There is a huge amount to see in the museum. If you like to take things at your own pace, then it is the perfect place for you. The exhibits cover the key periods of the growth and history of Berlin, with the first floor starting in the middle ages and covering up to the 1920s, and then the lower... More

I enjoyed this museum very much. The highlight is the bunker and for this part there is a guide in English or German. The rest of the museum is without a guide at your own pace. I found the sound effects excellent and the exhibits interesting even for children.

Visited in December 2016 found this a very difficult museum to access, staff need to take you through doors to lifts. A lot of reading but displays are poor and no interaction involved. Did not rate this museum as worth the entrance fee or what was being displayed, three pieces of the Berlin Wall on display then the rest is... More

Thank you very much for your visit. Also thank you for letting us know about your experience you had in our museum. Naturally we are very disappointed to hear that you did not like the visit at all. Yes, Staff is needed to bring a person in wheelchair to the lifts. From our experience we find this very helpful and... More

We spent three hours here with 2 small children. Excellent museum for adults and children. You get a feeling for the history of this middle european capital. Very tasteful visually designed with excellent explanation of all the facts. You can spent hours here. Including a visit to the atom bunker.

The museum was really cool, informative and interactive but the bunker tour really topped the visit for me. Our guide gave the tour in English and German and gave us a fantastic tour of the bunker underneath the museum. It was an awesome experience and gave a fantastic insight into life in fear of an atomic bomb attack.

Discovering "The Story of Berlin" was in a shopping center should've been enough of a sign, that this wasn't going to be good. And it wasn't. The exhibits looked as if they would have been dated the moment they were installed. For a city with such a rich history, it wasn't very engaging. Too much small type to read. Quite... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
