Review is only about „Geflügel Oase“ in Marheineke. Unbelievable price, paid only 14 Euros for chicken, duck, potatoes and coke. Quality was like lovely house made, nothing special but very satisfying. I was surprised to find such a place here in the more expensive area. This is really a secret tip.

For lovers of locally made delicacies of many kinds, this place is just a must. Stalls are placed inside the markthalle and there are stalls for cheese, bakery/pastry, fish, sausages, meat etc. etc, all of exellent quality. There are also stalls inside, were you can order food and vine for eating there. Outside the hall there are nice restaurants, the nearest with typically german food. Upstairs, there is a small hotell with some 6-7 rooms.
The suroundings - Marheinekeplatz and Bergmanstrasse, are just excellent places to spend a few hours.
Nearest tube station is Gneisenaustrasse at U7.

Maybe because we went on a Monday, but only 3 stores were open for Lunch. Total waste of time and effort...

This was my second trip to Berlin and the first stop was heading to Lolas for Tapas. They serve the best Tapas I have ever eaten. with everything cooked right in front of you. My girlfriends reaction to hearing that I had booked a trip for us back to Berlin was "Can we go back to Lolas for tapas"

I wish they had places like this in Scotland, butchers, bakers & delis all under the one roof. If I lived locally would definetly shop here

This market is worth a visit if you are a foodie. Great stuff. I was looking for some schabefleisch and found it here, with some fresh baked rolls. Visit.

Lots of variety & high quality at reasonable prices. I can only vouch for the crepes at Le Bretagne, but what I had was excellent.

I loved walking in this market, enjoying the variety of specialty shops and ethnic foods. This is a relatively quiet market - much less “touristy”. Many options for vegan and vegaterian people.

This is not really a true German market hall its more of an indoor market with its center isle displaying meat stalls, bakers, fishmongers, cheese, vegetable, dried nuts and fruits, each seem to be selling what they feel like selling. There is also a tea shop, juice bar, ice-cream stall, obligatory curried wurst stall, and a small café called “Gizmo & sweet coffee" who roasts its own beans. One length of the outer wall has seating and a variety of diverse hot food stands hailing from France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Vietnam. Tiered of Curried wurst so we ordered a couple of gyros from the Greek place, found a place to sit, and then while enjoying a really tasty cappuccino, watch all the people rush in and out on their lunch break.
TIP; There is stall serving vegetarian and vegan fare.

Perhaps our expectations were too high as we had hoped for a large, food shopping venue. Marheineke Markthalle is more like an American food hall in a mall, with a few produce vendors mixed in. However, one can purchase take-away food and enjoy it at one of the outdoor, shaded tables -- probably more affordably than eating in a traditional restaurant.
