We are usually fine with just a good guide book and doing a European city on our own. Berlin is one of those cities with a complicated history both visible and hidden it really makes sense to hire a tour guide to pull back the curtain. If you're interested in history and a good narrative about historical sites and the... More

I first used Robert in February 2016 where I had a long walking tour of Berlin with a group of work colleagues. My colleague briefed Robert to show us some areas of historic interest from WWII. Our tour was for around four hours with refreshment stops included. Throughout the tour Robert provided a detailed explanation of both buildings and events... More

Prior to our trip, I was able to arrange a private guide tour of Berlin led by Heather Ellis. Email communication with Heather was easy and smooth. Heather was quick to respond and answer all of my questions. She even provided terrific insight and tips regarding travel from the airport to the hotel. Heather met us at our hotel. She... More

We had 5 hours to learn as much as we could. Jeremy was prompt and having discussed our expectations took us on a full and very informative tour. We had lots of questions and Jeremy had all the answers. His knowledge of historical events and context made the tour and our appreciation of the city that much deeper. He is... More

Jeremy is a fantastic tour guide. He was extremely helpful in advance of our trip, offering tips for hotels and other kinds of things. The trip was with a couple from Australia. Jeremy KNOWS his material. I would say that having Jeremy as your guide can be the difference between a good trip to Berlin and a great trip to... More

The third reich tour was a four hour walk, yes 4 hoours, but it passed so quickly because the guide, a Kenny Macleod, made it so interesting. His command of English was clear and made the whole story come alive. Highly recommend this trip for the able-bodied. A word of caution, the Dresden trip, conducted by an Israeli student, was... I contacted Jeremy at The Berlin Experts but he was not available on the date we wanted a tour so he put me in contact with Heather Mae. From the beginning she was the epitome of professional. She has advanced degrees in history and is so knowledgeable about Germany and Berlin. She connected with me via email prior to our... More

We originally contacted Jeremy at Berlin Experts and he recommended Heather. Our group of 8 were so happy with our day in Berlin. Heather managed the short time we had there exceptionally well and her enthusiasm for the city was evident. I have toured many cities and she was by far the best guide I have had. She was very... Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
