Neighborhood: Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.

We were last in Breitscheidplatz in 1993 when the Kaiser Willhelm 3 church was just a remnant from the war, alone and scarred and looking forlorn. Now it has been somewhat revived though alas not completely. The ground area has been renovated into an area of interest and history. Very poignant too and well worth a visit.
Although the original church was not rebuilt in its old image, they did think to build another church next door. A modern, vibrant eccentricity of a building it is too. Quite wonderful I think you'll find. Much to see inside. Add these to the thought provoking sculpture of "Berlin" and you will have spent a lot of time experiencing part of the wonder that is Berlin. And very little money I might add.

A Christmas Market especially in the evening with lights and decorations to make it magical. Selling the usual novelties, decorations, crafts, food and drink. Being just a few minutes walk from our hotel we finished off our evenings by walking around the market.

The best time to visit Breitscheidplatz is during the Christmas market. There is plenty of Christmas markets in Berlin and this has always been my favourite. I was unfortunate to have been in the market during the terrorist attack and this Christmas was the first time that I had returned.

There was a very small memorial with candles to remember those that lost their lives and were injured on the steps to the church.

The Christmas market is everything I remembered. Great atmosphere. Everyone was happy, some really good food and drinks stalls, and the best egg nog I have ever had. Definitely worth a try if you want egg nog. Go to the stall that has inside seating with pink fluffy lamp shades. That's whee the best egg nog is.

It's centrally located and easy to get to and is next to Zoo station.

If you are in Berlin at Christmas time. Come and visit here, you'll love it.

Watch out for the racing cars duelling on the Kurfürstendamm. Last week's crash wasn't a fluke. Many have been prevented in the past. I witnessed the accident. Stay in a hotel beyond the Apple store.

The square is close to the Europa-Center ruin church and the Karstadt department store, as well as underground connections to all parts of Berlin.

This is the center of retail for Berlin and my wife and daughter loved it. For me, I really enjoyed the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. This is a place you come to for me things, the Breitscheidplatz is what pulls them together.

We stumbled across this Fest on our way to Hard Rock Cafe and what a treat it was! The weather was fabulous and the food was great. What an atmosphere. I have read there is an Christmas market here and I can't wait to come back and visit.

Loved walking around this memorial and also going inside to give you an idea of what it once looked like. The new cathedral next door is also worth a visit inside

Breitscheidplatz is a pretty hectic Square near the Zoological Garden. I visited on a Friday evening on the subway train.

In the divided Germany this was West Berlin in contrast with Alexanderplatz which was in East Berlin.

Breitscheidplatz is a bit of a mish mash in styles of buildings. There were markets and food stalls near the subway entrance and exit that was rather busy.
