Have been to a few walking tours around Europe but this one will have to be my favourite. Jonathan our guide was amazing, very knowledgable, funny and was very relaxed. We learnt a lot about the history of Berlin and had a great day, so glad we did this. Thank you Jonathan!

Brilliant tour of Berlin, Jonathon was excellent, everything you want from a tour good. Endless enthusiasm, good natured and knowledgeable. We happened to be on the tour during a thunderstorm and downpour but Jonathon was really flexible with this and we ended up huddled in a cafe, getting some history while we waited for the rain to pass. Not just... More

Preston was our guide for the day in Potsdam. What an amazing day! Finding the meeting spot and the Brewer's sign were super easy. There were only 4 of us on the tour (three of the four were my family) and off we went. I so appreciated that they did not cancel the tour because there were only 4. We... More

Tour guide Alex was extremely informative and intelligent. This was the best tour I've ever had. Every question I asked about the buildings was answered with a detailed explanation of their history.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we decided to take the Brewer's Walking Tour as per our friend's recommendation. And I can tell you, it did not disappoint! Very informative, witty, and approachable guides! Loved the experience!

We were recommended this by another traveller we met in Berlin and we are so glad we could make some time for this walking tour. We opted for the Free Walking tour, which basically works on tips depending on how much you enjoyed the tour. William our guide did a fantastic job keeping us enthralled, engaged with both his humour... More

Took a great 3-4 hour walking tour with Jonathan today. It was wonderfully informative & he was a great guide! Gave us a brief history of the East- West German divide & geo- political background, brief break for a bite & a frantic 10 minutes at the Fassbender & Rauschenberg chocolate store!

We took a walking tour with Jonathan for our first full day in Berlin- it was brilliant from start to finish, and provided us with a helpful overview for the rest of our trip. If you can do one tour, choose this one. It had a small, friendly feel to it, and Jonathan was humorous, knowledgable and also very honest... More

Our guide, William, was extremely knowledgable about the craft beer industry, how beer and ale is produced, and also knew so much about the history of Germany, its economy, and made the tour both informative and fun. He was able to forge a great deal of camaraderie among the members of the tour. A great evening!!

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
