I went with 2 friends of mine and were absolutely blown away with our guides knowledge and delivery. Sam took us to some great sites and not only gave us comprehensive information but also got us thinking about each point and what it meant to us (namely the Jewish memorial). Fantastic and highly recommended!

Went as part of our long weekend anniversary break and we both loved it. My wife does not really drink much beer but our guide was really knowledgeable, engaging , and kept everyone's interest. Essentially it's a pub crawl with local history and beer chat along the way so there's something for everyone Our group was really nice and it's... More

I joined a 6 hours tours, Jonathan was the morning tour guide, not only he had a great sense of humour but also were very knowledgable. Polly was the afternoon guide, she also had great depth of knowledge about Berlin and gave an exception insight into the city. I'd definitely recommend this 6 hours tour, the time would just fly... My boyfriend and I went to Berlin for a long weekend - this is the *perfect* way to see the key sites, as well as gaining an understanding of Berlin's fascinating history. Sam was a fantastic guide, really personable and so knowledgeable. I recommend doing this early on in your trip - giving you time to go back to the... More

There is not much I can say about this guide that perhaps hasn't already been said by others who have had the pleasure of being a part of his tour. His clever humour and analogies keep even the heaviest of topics light, which in my opinion is necessary. He knows how to keep people interested and uses little know facts just... More

My friend and I did the 6 hour walking tour with Sam, the guide. He made a great effort to get to know his group and give us an overview of Berlin and Germany's history before showing us the sights. The tour included all the major sights including Museum Island, Alexander Platz, The Palace of Tears, Checkpoint Charlie etc. Sam... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
