This is the 2nd time i've used Brewers, the first was late 2002, & our English guide Polly had very big shoes to fill as my first experience was fantastic. I can honestly say she was equally as engaging, well educated & knowledgeable about the history of Berlin as my first guide & her passion for the history was clear... More

Took the day tour with Sam. A thoroughly enjoyable and very informative day learnt so much and more put into perspective in such easy and relaxed way of delivery by Sam who's knowledge and insight was a pleasure. Only regret was that we did not have sufficient time to organize another tour for next day. One knock on advantage of... More

Our tour leader Sam was terrific. The tour was 3 1/2 hours long and we wish it had been longer. Sam's knowledge of Berlin's history and his ability to tell its story made the time fly by. It is understood that you tip at the end of the tour--be generous.

This was my first hostel experience and I think the bar has been set very high! Very helpful staff, clean rooms, awesome view. They had tours daily leaving from the lobby. Met some fellow guests who were very nice. About a 20 minute walk from the touristy places like the Reichstag. Tram stops directly in front of the hostel. All... More

After having given tickets for this tour to my roommate and his boyfriend for their visit to Berlin in the Summer, time came around for my boyfriend and myself to be visiting Berlin - this tour was my roommate's top recommendation from his trip so we booked! We took the tour on a Saturday night with Sam, who we quite... More

My wife and I did this tour and absolutely loved it. The tour guide was really friendly, knowledgable and did a great job of getting the whole group talking and mingling together. We visited several lesser known craft beer places around Berlin and ended up at one close to the main area of Berlin so we weren't too far for... More

We had a brilliant your with Jonathan - he was really informative and funny and although it was freezing cold kept us all entertained and educated throughout the afternoon. Excellent way to see the sights, get some local knowledge and learn more.

We heard about the tour from our Hostel. We did the 6 hour tour. We were a small group so we started with one guide for half the day and than met up with another guide with a larger group to finish. We had Jonathan, he was very informative and also loved the jokes! It was a very fun and... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
