This Röder (Clearer?) tower is unique, as you can climb up. This access has a small fee and it is open only during the late spring through the summer until autumn. This tower is usually the starting point for tours on the wall. It was damaged at the war.

Roderturm is one of the towers located in the old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a wonderful medieval city in Franconia, a region of the south part of Germany. It is s typical and very nice tower, which you see if tou walk in the center of this fairy tale town. Pretty.

There are more picturesque towers in Rothenburg (not that this one isn't picturesque in its own right), but this one is special because you can go to the top.

Der Roderturm was another tower in Rothenburg. You could climb up this tower but have to pay the fee of 1.5 Euro. When you went up the top, you could have panoramic views over the town of Rothenburg. Quite worthwhile.

This was my main entrance into the Old town of Rothenburg as my hotel was just down the street. You can walk or drive and traffic is two ways so I saw a few cars backing up to allow oncoming traffic. This is a beautiful gate and example of the historic defense the old town had. If you are feeling adventurous, you can climb to the top of the tower.…
