If you're in the vicinity of Rothenburg, this tour is a must! Interesting and entertaining for all ages. Make sure you are wearing comfortable walking shoes and warm clothing if its cold out. Learned a lot of history during this nighttime tour.
Really funny, well spoken and informative tour. Minimal walking and just the right length of time too. Brings the town to life with funny anecdotes and historical facts. Definitely worth the small fee!
Make sure that you set aside one evening for this fun and informative tour. Although it is only an hour long walking tour, you will learn about the history of the town as well as some unique stories about different things that you will not...More
I had read on TripAdvisor and in Rick Steves guidebooks that the Night Watchman Tour was a must in Rothenburg. Now, I can say I totally agree. What a great hour to spend walking around town listing to the history of Rothenburg. There were some...More
The night watchman will not disappoint! He is very witty and humorous, and does know more than a thing or two about this wonderful medieval city. He's been doing the tour a very long time and has honed his craft for sure. We certainly learned...More
Keep in mind that this is a one hour walking tour, not an in depth study of the city. George hits the high points of Rothenburg history over the past six centuries and does it in an engaging and funny manner. War, pestilence, conquest ......More

Hello, my husband and I and two of our friends are planning a trip to Germany and Switzerland at the end of April 2015. I have a tentative itinerary, but would love some feedback/suggestions/hotel recommendations/etc. Just a little about us - both couples are in our late 20’s and we plan to travel by car. We would love to have a nice mix of scenery and history. We’re not overly excited by large cities, so tend to enjoy smaller villages with more history/scenery to offer. Upon arriving in...More

Hi and welcome to TA! Let me try to go point-by-point. First, driving on a German autobahn when you are jet lagged and tired is not a good idea. If you have traveled a lot to Europe and know how you will feel, okay, but most of us are pretty tired by the time we get to Europe from the US and our alertness and reaction times are pretty bad. Why not take the train from the airport building to somewhere like Wurzburg (it's more or less on the way to Rothenburg o.d. Tauber and there are trains...More
Ghost Tour With The Executioner (3 Replies)
Finally got back from our Germany and Austria trip, and just wanted to let you know about this tour. I don't believe anyone has written about it yet. This just started in September, probably because of the Night Watchman Tour fame. It's similar to the Night Watchman, but the character is different, and of course the focus is different. The tour gives you some history, superstition, practices, culture, but concentrates on the crime and punishment aspect. The Executioner was considered the...More

Kathy Wohlfart Christmas Store hours in early March (1 Replies)
We will be in RODT on Saturday March 10 and have gotten different times as to when the store open on that day. If anyone really knows, pass on the hours. It is important in that if we go to RODT we wanted to have some time in the store and perhaps walk with the "Night Watchman" again. We will be driving to RODT from Munich on that Saturday. Thanks
