My husband, grandchildren and I enjoyed walking the walls early before the buses full of visitors arrived and began taking pictures up on the walls. The views were wonderful.

This was an experience for sure! The stairs are very steep and some are newer stairs, but there are some areas that have older stone steps that can be a bit uneven. Just something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues. The views...More

The wall was a must! To know the history of this town and be able to walk where others in history walked us just phenomenal. The name stones of those who donated from around the world to help rebuild the wall after WW2 is a...More

Good to see how the walls have been preserved and still provide access points to the popular tourist town.

With roughly 2.5 miles of Medieval ramparts and 70 towers surrounding Rothenburg, a stroll on top of the 20 foot tall wall is one of the joys of any visit. Working your way up the steps and into the covered walkway on top of the...More

Avoid middle of the day! Tourists multiply like mice. The truth is spending a night allows you to soak in the town with a lot less stress. We liked the evening hours and early morning hours- at 10:00am you are wanting to hide!

A lot of the stones and brick have names on them of people who donated to the restoration. In the snow do watch your step (everywhere) but you will have a magical view in the snow. Enjoy!

There are many places to get up onto the wall. I would recommend simply walking along the wall until you reach a staircase. There are plenty of these access points along the way.
