...but it's legit old and authentic. It's worth a day visit to see all of the old architecture alone.

This is why you came here, so stroll and soak it all in. Hard to believe almost every building here is a reconstruction. Its still worth a visit. Food options are great, as is the shopping. It's a must if in Bavaria.

An absolutely charming place with the X-Mas atmosphere all year round. And definitely the place to come once the Christmas Market opens. This year it started on Dec 1 with the festive ceremony. Lots to do and to see but just make sure if you...More

We traveled along the romantic road and this was one of the first stops. The other towns are pretty similar but this one was the best. Stayed a night there and had a nice walk in the evening and morning where the tourist crowd was...More

Love Rothenburg, Just a few tips from someone who has been here a few times. Have a small car. Check on the times restaurants and businesses are open. They take their Christmas serious and you may find them closed to decorate for Christmas! For real!

Rick Steve's recommends spending the evening in Rothenburg, I may beg to differ as the crowds definitely disappear at night but the town also closes up and you are left with little to do besides stroll the streets. I'd recommend a day visit, which may...More

Good place for a stroll with beautiful buildings. It is well known so expect big crowds. However, stay away from the main streets and quiet strolls can be found. We were there in early November during the low season so the crowd was bearable. There...More

I got up and walked around the town at 6 a.m., in the company of huge hordes of photo snapping, tour bus riding crazed, dazed packaged tourists, but that was nothing compared to later in the day, when gargantuan mobs of black-friday-like shoppers filled the...More

Lots of fascinating little shops of all sorts; this place is justifiably famous for its Christmas market, but we were here in October and found much to explore. The old walls are fascinating to wander around, and the medieval "punishments " museum was very informative...More

The Palace in Wurzburg is very impressive, plus it has a very ornate side chapel. The Castle is a very long climb for your buck. The town is a regular town with a nice bridge and some photo ops. Rothenburg ob der Tauber... More
