One of the best medieval towns you can visit. Full of history...and tourists at peak times. Try and go early or late in the day or season.

The old town is wonderful to walk around. Cobblestone streets, beuatiful buildings, lots of shops and eateries. We lucked out and were there during a festival so lots of people were dressed in costume and there were musicians everywhere.

We have a choice between going to Wurzburg to tour Residenz Palace or going to Rothenburg for a coach tour and St. Jacobs Church. Which should we choose? Thanks.

The Palace in Wurzburg is very impressive, plus it has a very ornate side chapel. The Castle is a very long climb for your buck. The town is a regular town with a nice bridge and some photo ops. Rothenburg ob der Tauber... More
