A great walk or cycle for those that wish to see the river Inn. It’s a great comparison to the river Danube only a few minutes away. We learned the difference between the two... of there are cruise boats it’s the Danube, if there are not, it’s the Inn.
It was a sunny and cold day for us, perfect for walking and culture.
From the cathedral, this is only about 2 minutes walk from.

Walked to the Inn from the town centre and strolled to the confluence of the Ilz, Danube and Inn before heading up to the castle. Nice walk on a warm October afternoon and well worth the effort.

This is a lovely walk along the river Inn up to the point where the rivers meet at the promontory. The walk is past historic buildings and offers great views to the hills beyond. Flood markers show the extent of many of the floods in previous centuries. It gives a good viewpoint to the opposite bank.

Nice peaceful walking pass along Inn river bank, along historical Passau landmarks on one side and Inn water on other, up to the point of meeting Inn with Danube. Very pleasant walk, unusually fro German accuracy, pass is not in ideal conditions, but in any case suitable for everyone. The walk could be begin from any point of old town, then could return by Danube bank to same point. Stunning views for both sides.

This is a great but peaceful walk, with good views of the monastery brewery on the opposite bank, the 15th century Schaibling tower and markers showing the years when the river was in flood. Any of the side streets on the right lead to the old town. The buildings on the city side too are worth glancing at; some with attractive decorative paintings. To my mind a far more pleasant walk than its twin promenade on the Danube side.

We walked the Innpromenade during our walking tour of the city. It gives you a lovely scenic view of the Inn River, along with a nice mix of old and new architecture.

Best is to do a € 6 guided tour from the Dom (most days at 14.30h) explaining the history and the peculiarities of Passau.

Take a few minutes to walk up and through this very unique ancient passage way. How construction was so sturdy back then!
