It's not available to visit Niederhaus, because it's a private territory and entrance is forbidden. Better walk 800 m up the hill and visit Oberhaus (a nice castle of bishop)

Towering above the town of Passau is Veste Niederhaus. Although it looks far away, getting to the castle is not very difficult. After crossing the bridge, there is a short climb to the castle aligned with great views of the city. Once you reach the top, it is well worth exploring the grounds. I did not enter any of the museums or shops, as I was short on time. I spent about an hour walking along the paths and enjoying the city views of Passau. The history of this castle is very interesting and well worth looking in to.

The view from this place is amazing. You can clearly see the confluence of the 3 rivers and their different colours from there

Wonderful castle complex with astounding views of Passau. Either a decent hike up stairs or a reasonably priced van that runs often. The stairs are in good condition with a few slopes. There are multiple view points and a tower for €1 which was well worth it. In addition to the beautiful views there is a beer garden with breathtaking views and enough beer to wet any whistle.

This historic structure is on a commanding site above the river and the old town. A bit of a climb up to it but not difficult. It offers panoramic views across the town and the rivers.

It is a nice building to view by the river and from the boat. Passau has so much to offer and so many places to see including this site. Veste Niederhaus is just at the mouth of the river Ilz merging the Donau.

Another interesting structure sitting on the Danube is Veste Niederhaus. We had a wonderful view from our river cruise ship.
