15th-century residential tower across from St. Lorenz Church
Dec 2019
Nassauer Haus is a 15th-century residential tower located just across Königstraße from the historic St. Lorenz Church. Used for defensive purposes during earlier centuries, the Nassauer Haus is the last remaining residential tower from the Middle Ages.

The tower is built of red sandstone, includes impressive covered battlement, decorative corner towers and other interesting Gothic features that make it attractive for viewing.

Badly damaged during WWII bombings, Nassauer Haus was reconstructed between 1950-52 in the same manner and appearance prior to the war.

You can conveniently have a look of this historic tower before or after your visit to the church. Then continue onward with other intended sightseeing in the area.

A scenic, historically significant area that is pedestrian friendly. Lots of character, and beauty in that.

Sightseeing in Nuremberg
Sep 2019
On your sightseeing tour in the Old town of Nuremberg you also have to see the only residential tower in Nuremberg, namely the “Nassauer Haus”. It is one of the few examples of Romanesque architecture.
Only a few historic buildings in the old town of Nuremberg were not completely destroyed in the Second World War like the Nassauer Haus. It Probably was built to serve as a residential tower for a ministerial of red Burgsandstein, its battlements and corner towers were not really intended for defense, but had only symbolic significance.

Photo Op but Little More
May 2019 • Family
The Nassauer Haus is located right across from the Lorenz Church. It is a seriously cool looking building. Combined with the church, looking down towards the old town, fortress up on the distant hill, can almost take you back in time.

Unfortunately all you can do is take pictures. I am pretty certain that you can not go inside thus its really just a photo op. Other reviewers say there is a beer cellar and a restaurant there but not much of historical value.

What a building and to look like this after so many years. A very impressive little building and so central. Good food available and cold beer - what else do you need?

Must Book To Get A Table
Sep 2017 • Couples
Our hotel recommended this restaurant and it exceeded all expectations. You go down into vaulted chambers where each stone has been hand hewed for the construction.Traditional local dishes, we tried the local sausages with sourkraut and the boar in red wine jus, absolutely top drawer. We finished with the apple strudel, delicious. Many people were turned away when we were dining so you must book to get a table.
