City tour through Nuremberg with the Bimmelbahn

2 reviews
Drive through the old town and through the unique history of Nuremberg. From the main market with the beautiful fountain past the Maxbrücke, the St Lorenz church, the Heilig-Geist-Spital and up to the Kaiserburg with its fortifications. Everything is easy for you to admire from the train. You will also learn fun and interesting facts, old-fashioned and current, glamorous and possibly also cruel, romantic and temperamental about Nuremberg and its residents. On this tour you will experience the highlights of several centuries in about 40 minutes and then you can explore the city on your own.

During usual days, this market which is located intl the center of the old town will be selling fruits and vegetables but during X'mas season, this market will be transformed into the main section of the well known Nuremberg X'mas market.

The Hauptmarkt ist the most central place in town. Best time to visit is when there is some kind of market actually going, be it the famous Christmas market in December or also one of the markets connected to the many festivals in town. On any other day, there are plenty of food stalls for fruit, vegetables and the like. The square is surrounded, partially, be some lovely medieval buildings and churches. You can walk to pretty much any place in the old city center from here within a short notice. Not recommended: to eat in a place in the immediate vicinity of the square. Most of those places are of the tourist trap variety.

There wasn't a marked when I was there. Can't remember the reason. The central square is still nice though even though it seems a bit empty without the stands.

Lot of vendors gather in front of Frauenkirche. Lots of local food and even some souvenirs. Excellent spot for a walk and some shopping

The square is located in front of the Church of Our Lady and the Schoner Brunnen is on one side. It is one of the pictures that you see of Nurenberg. We stopped by just after Christmas so they were dismantling the Christmas market. Because of that, we weren't able to look around the area too much.
