I am a great Admirer of Durer - the northern Renaissance sometimes plays second fiddle to the Italian, but Durer ranks with the finest of Italian artists. You won't original Durers here, but you do get a sense of his life, also his work, particularly in demonstrations of printmaking that are offered. And if you're not an art buff, the... More

Allocate 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Learned a lot about a rather multi-talented and fascinating man as well as the period in Nurnberg's history. Audio with person acting as Mrs. Durer was a fun touch.

Durer is famous Nurnberger painter and his house is redesigned as a museum now. The square where the museum located is great to see around. On the way to castle, you can stop here to see his paintings, living environments and house architecture of those years. After museum rest in cafe in square and keep climbing for castle.

I did not liked that they implied that Durer's wife was viewed as scandalous without providing more details and reasons.

I am a fan of Drurer's art and was excited to see his home. I knew little about him and less about engraving so found the visit interesting...perhaps not for everyone, but if you admire him at all, do take the time to see his house.

My husband and I visited the city while on a river cruise, and having some (limited) free time and an interest in art and this artist, we were able to enjoy a nice visit here. You can do it in an hour if that was all the time you had. The audio tour was interesting, as it narrated by his... More

Although I'm acquainted with Durer's art, I didn't really know anything about him at all, so the visit to his house was enjoyable and enlightening. You can pay extra for an audio-tour, which is well worth it. It's told as if his wife is speaking to you, which sounds corny, but works.

The story of the artist is quite interesting. Sort of the Andy Warhol of the 15th century. The building is one of ten nicest in the area.

Durer was ahead of his time painting precise pictures which are in major museums around the world. The home he bought in the early 1500s and lived in for 20 years is available to tour. It costs 5 euros for adults and there is an audio tour in different languages including English. You learn about the house and about Durer... More

I only viisted this museum to get out of the cold for a while. But I really enjoyed it. The demonstration of engraving was fascinating and the house is well presented and very informative. Audio tours in multiple languages and would be enjoyed by older children
