We read about the Lufthansa Express Bus and decided to try it, even though it was more expensive. The bus runs every 20 min and is located right across the street from the train station, which was just a block from our hotel. The driver loaded all our luggage for us. We had comfortable seats on the bus and the drive took only about 45 minutes. Show up earlier than you think you need to. Both from the airport & to the airport the queue was LONG and we weren’t able to get on the first bus that arrived. Many people going to the airport (on a Sunday at Noon) were forced to take cabs to make their flights (and the taxi vultures were at the ready). We weren’t in a rush and it worked out just fine, but just beware. You may want to wait to purchase your ticket onboard rather than buy in advance in case you’re forced to take another mode of transportation.Hello churst214, We very much regret the occurrence of this unfortunate incident. The DB's construction work is having a noticeable impact on our passenger volume and timetable. You could have also found this information on our website. We have seen a significant increase in passengers since construction work began. We are using additional buses and vehicles with higher capacity on the airport route. We have also added additional service staff to the busier stops at the main station, Nordfriedhof and Terminal 2. The situation is unsatisfactory. Despite these measures, we are not able to fully cope with the additional passenger volume caused by the S-Bahn interruption. I did not regret taking the Lufthansa Express Bus because not only was it convenient to get to the city center but also because the driver was very helpful. I asked where to get a taxi from the final bus stop and he told me he would show me when we get there. That was comforting to know! He showed me exactly where the taxis are. This made my bus ride more enjoyable and worry-free. The only criticism was it wasn’t that easy to find. However on a positive note, it takes the same amount of time to get to the airport as the train and it costs the same. The bus stop is directly outside the terminal, went off at the exact time on the schedule! Pick up is outside the Sure Hotel (I think its called) which is where we got dropped off and again the bus was on time! There were rail strikes/disruption when we went so this for us was far easier than trains! Journey took about 1hr from the airport due to a lot of traffic in Munich city centre which is due to roadworks and 45mins to the airport!Dear Jangs1193, Many thanks for your rating and your feedback. - Voyage106596054021 contributionGood servercice but sometimes more kindness would help!We took the bus, on August the 26th 2024, from Munich city centre, perfectly on time, at 09:50 for the 09:55 ride and we found that the hatches to drop the baggage were already closed. I asked where to leave my luggage (not a carry-on type) and the driver told me to get in the bus, together with my baggage which, in turn, didn't fit the overhead!!! In my opinion, the driver just didn't want to open the hatches (as he did at next stop) and I couldn't figure out where to leave my baggage: I decided to leave it in the corridor. The driver could have been more polite and open the hatches in order to allow us to drop our luggage properly. A great way to transfer from the city center to the airport . it takes about 45 min to an hour each way , a return ticket is approx 17euros and a one way if purchased online is about 10 euros u can also buy a ticket from the driver for 11 euro . The city center main station is the final stop

We bought a return ticket from Munich Airport to the central train station. Everything was smooth on our first journey.
On our return journey however, the QR code to our ticket did not work. We showed the bus driver that we had bought a return ticket but he insisted that his QR code reader could not read the code, hence it is invalid.
We convinced the bus driver to let us on the bus while we try to clarify with the bus company. No one picked up the phone for the entire hour we tried calling. It was a Thursday, and we tried calling between 11am to 12pm. When we reached the airport, the bus driver demanded that we pay him 25 EUR, the cost of a one-way ticket for 2 pax. When we said we had paid for a return earlier and did not manage to resolve the issue, the driver closed all doors and locked us in the bus, threatening to send us back to Munich central station.
At this stage, we decided to pay the 25 EUR first in order to not miss our flight. When we demanded a receipt for the ticket (in hopes of being able to claim back from the bus company later), the bus driver declined to give us one; which really makes us wonder if our original return ticket was truly invalid or the driver merely saw an opportunity to squeeze money out from tourists.
Due to this extremely horrible back and forth with the bus driver, we had to rush to check into our flight and through security. We were the last to board our plane, and got an earful from the airport ground staff when we reached the gate.
While our experience is not conclusive, I can see that many other users had similar experiences in terms of bad behaviour by Lufthansa Express bus drivers so that should count for something.

This does not meet the high quality standard of Lufthansa Express Bus Munich, nor does it reflect our service approach. Our ultimate aim is to transport our passengers safely, punctually and reliably to their destination. It is equally important to us that our passengers feel at ease in our buses. The behaviour of our employee that you describe does not contribute to this. We have once again reminded our drivers to be aware that they are a role model and to behave appropriately - especially in stressful situations.

I am writing with concern to report an incident that occurred on 12th July at the Lufthansa Express bus. The following is a brief description of the incidence.
I was a transit passenger at Munich on my way back to home in Ottawa. I had purchased 2 return tickets from airport terminal 2 to city center paying 41 Euro cash to the driver on duty at around 8:30 am, he handed over the receipt. (Attached). On our way back from city centre at around 2 pm the bus driver asked us to get down from the bus as, according to him, I presented an invalid ticket. This was very embarrassing for us. The next bus driver asked me to pay again to get back to the airport. He didn’t want to listen to me that I have already paid for return tickets. Anyway, I didn’t want to miss my flight, paid and boarded the bus. (Attached).
When I looked into the ticket, I found it was for one person and no where it was printed the amount I had paid.
This is totally unacceptable, I paid twice, faced harassment and was about to miss my flight. The driver who forced me to pay twice contacted someone over phone and wanted to protect his colleague trying to cover that he was a new trainee driver. His brings another level of concern, how can a trainee drive without a supervisor and without getting proper training to print a valid ticket. The question arises whether he has done that on purpose for his personal benefit.
Lufthansa Express management must take the responsibility of my suffering . Please investigate the incidence which should be an easy task to examine the cc camera and the end of the day accounts statement.
I deserve an apology and a proper compensation, not only a refund for the harassment I have faced. I hope this will be resolved at your level.

Firstly, we apologize for the inconvenience and embarrassment caused when you were asked to disembark the bus and pay again for your return journey. This is not the standard of service we strive to provide. We are sorry that you had to face such a situation, especially under the pressure of catching your flight.
After reviewing your complaint and the attached receipts, we recognize that there was a significant error in ticket issuance and handling by our staff. The fact that the ticket issued did not reflect the correct amount paid is unacceptable, and we understand the frustration and confusion this caused.
We are also concerned about the handling of the situation by our staff, including the involvement of a trainee driver without proper supervision. We assure you that this incident will be thoroughly investigated. We will review the CCTV footage and the end-of-day accounts statement to understand what went wrong and to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
As a result of this incident, we will take the necessary actions to ensure all our drivers are properly trained and supervised, especially trainees, to avoid any similar issues.

The worst experience. The driver made us wait in the hot sun for 10 minutes while he sat in the back of the bus eating a bag of chips. He screamed at us in German when we tried to get on before he was apparently allowing people on. It really startled us and heightened our nerves on what was already going to be a very long travel day. He was on the phone the entire time he drove us to MUC. Cars were honking at him throughout the drive. He yelled at passengers if they didn’t have the right docs to get on the bus. He made one woman pay 9 euro when she’d already had a ticket. He also yelled at some people to put masks on, however I never saw him put a mask on once. When we go to the airport we arrived at Terminal 2. We were under the impression that he would also stop at Terminal 1 because he was supposed to. When some of us didn’t get off he screamed at those of us who were still there and said we had to get off. We got off the bus and he closed the door to the bus and he sped and I mean sped away from the curb. I will never use the company again. And I hope my complaint makes it through to someone that can make a difference because the drivers behavior was uncalled for and disgusting. It put a big damper on our travels. Especially when we had to walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1. Adding stress to travel is never welcomed. We are still in shock at the etiquette of the driver of bus 420! Do not ever use this shuttle service unless you want to risk some frustration and uneasiness to your travels.

Hi this is to inform you that I tried getting on the bus from Munich MAC centre - Sunday 30 July at 14.50. I had cash 20 euros ready and I loaded my bag as the bus driver opened the hatch.
The driver said he didn’t have any change. One of the passengers suggested I buy online but before I could take my credit card out, the driver threw my bag out of the bus on the road and said he doesn’t have time. I said I would pay by card but he said he didn’t care and I should get the next bus.
Honestly this is atrocious behaviour and not expected from the Lufthansa bus. You have people come from all over the world and this behaviour of throwing the bag out of the bus as he doesn’t have change is appalling. It isn’t the passengers fault when it says you can pay on the bus too.
I now have to wait 20 more minutes after an overseas flight of traveling the whole night as the driver flung my suitcase out as tantrum and behaved very badly. How is this even allowed ??

Hello, I had to take the Lufthansa Express Bus on 7 Sep 2023 because of the S-Bahn strike. It was totally a mess. We got on to the bus from Hauptbahnhof. There was no queu and people rushed to the bus when the bus arrived to the stop. We had to put our luggages by ourselves together with the other people and some people hit their heads to the baggage door of the bus as it was so crowded and everybody was trying to put their luggages at the same time. Since there was no Lufthansa staff at the stop, we had to check by looking from the window whether someone took our luggages. When the bus took off, we weren't sure that our luggages were in the bus and we were stressed until we arrived to the airport. As it was unplanned, we had to buy tickets from the driver. For some reason, the credit card terminal didn't work and therefore the driver asked us to get off without telling us that we also had the option to buy tickets in cash. He was very rude and he didn't know any English so we weren't able to communicate. At last, I offered to pay cash and then he said ok. When the bus arrived to Terminal 2, we asked whether the bus went to the Terminal 1, the driver again was very rude and he told us to stay on the bus with an angry tone. Finally, we arrived to the Terminal 1 and we were happy to see that our luggages are there. Overall, it was a very unpleasent experience which I don't expect from a great company like Lufthansa.
I hope the company improve its services soon and people have better experiences with the ride.

Many thanks for your feedback. First of all we have to point out that there were no S-Bahn strike on 7Sept 2023! If there had been a strike, we would have added extra busses and extra staff to our schedule,
Nevertheless we very much regret the occurrence of our drivers´s behaviour.

No power outlets between the chairs. And the WiFi has a limit du I can’t watch movie or else in the 45 min ride from Munich city to Munich Airport . Not an Express for 11€. It was quiet and empty and the drivers are friendly

Bus got us to airport quickly, however driver like others have mentioned is a scam artist. While loading the bags my wife struggled to get on with our 2 young children and pay for our seats. Driver charged a 2 and 5 year old even though they should be free. I asked for him to fix the mistake and he argued that this is our fault and we never said their ages. This is the exact opposite experience of everywhere else in Munich where they always ensure children are not charged. What a horrible way to end a nice vacation and to see this type of scam on a Lufthansa branded bus really hurts the brand. Not sure why the driver was so rude a simple, "I'm sorry" and a quick refund would have resolved the issue but he just kept saying this is your fault. Terrible experience, take the train instead. I reached out the info email but no response after 4 days.

A return ticket will get us from the airport to the train station downtown Munich and back? Also where is the pick up at the airport and where is it downtown. How early do they run?

Yes, a return ticket will take off from airport to downtown. And downtown back to airport. You can just ask ard at the airport service desk is pretty easy to find the bus station . Where u get off from downtown that is the stations to get on back to airport . Just making sure you keep the bus ticket with you. I do print out the hardcopy .

You can use a return ticket on different days as long as it's within the validity period of the ticket ( the ticket has not gone past its expired date).

After my flight, I want to take a bus from Frankfurt to Strasbourg, and I don't have any flight after this. I have one backpack and one luggage, and the total weight exceeds 31 Kg, but is less than 36 Kg. Do I need to pay for extra luggage? That is really not convenient, since the price of the bus is 51€, and the extra luggage costs 70€. Thanks

Hello- I want to take the bus from terminal 2 to downtown Munich and back to fly out to Portugal. I have a 7hour layover. Is this pretty reliable? How long is the ride? On time? Paying cash to the driver is an option correct?

Our experience is limited to one roundtrip so I would check other reviews too, You can pay the driver cash or credit card (but not American Express). Our 0715 return bus from the Hauptbahnhof didn't;t show; we boarded the next bus. The bus makes a suburban stop on the way to the airport. It took the driver about 15 minutes to process all the passengers at that stop. It took at least one hour from the train station to the airport. I would budget at least 1.5 hours for the return to be safe. We'll probably try the train next time.
