Alun is a fantastic guide, it is clear that he has a great deal of knowledge and is very well read. He is able to deliver the tour in a way that is interesting, sensitive and promotes discussion within the group. I highly recommend the small group combined tour to learn about Dachau concentration camp and to learn the significance of sites in Munich town centre, that are no longer obvious without a tour. Alun is very organised and knows the transport system very well, getting around with public transport was efficient and allowed additional time for discussion and questions.

Thanks for the great review. Yes, the reading process goes on. As a guide at Dachau, I am always looking to expand my knowledge. I recommend books on my tours, but guests often make suggestions as well. I appreciate that and indeed take people up on those suggestions.

We had to cancel because of travel restrictions. Allan responded within minutes and immediately processed a full refund without our even requesting it. Extremely warm and professional and when we are able to reschedule our visit to Munich, he will be our first contact.

Alun is extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and well spoken. He is friendly and helpful, and answered a million questions we had. He has a perfect itinerary planned out to make the most of your time while also allowing your group some time to explore the museum. He emphasizes the lesson we can learn about the human experience, and speaks in a very respectful manner about all things Dachau. He could teach a college course on the matter! I highly recommend taking some time to book this tour. It is worth it!

I booked on to Alun’s Dachau your on my trip to München in November 2023 & had an absolutely fantastic experience with Alan, whilst delving into such a dark & sensitive piece of history.
1. His attention to detail, from ensuring the group got to, & from Dachau from Munich was outstanding, he ensured we all understood perfectly the steps to take to do so.
2. His ability to calmly & clearly describe such an emotive subject with such a grasp for the time in question was very impressive. He also was always open to further questions & happy to delve into any the group had.
3. He was an excellent host, happily discussing matters away from the subject on the trip there and back, putting the group at ease and making it a throughly enjoyable, yet poignant experience.
I hope to meet you again Alun, Joe Green.

I had been on a tour of Dachau five years ago, but Alun provided so much more in-depth information that I learned a lot on his tour. He is incredibly knowledgeable and explains the history in a way that is easy to understand. I would recommend Alun’s tour over others.

Went on the Dachau and Third Reich Combined Day Tour lead by Alun Evans Personal Tour Guiding - Munich. Alun met the small group in Marienplatz then used public transportation to go to Dachau. We were provided background information regarding the history of the camp and its significance to its public legacy. Once at Dachau, Alun expertly lead us through the poignant and horrific existence of the camp. The site possesses many original buildings which are a constant reminder of the horrors of the Nazi regime. We were able to visit the museum at our leisure. While we were given a significant amount of time in the museum, it is apparent you could spend days there reading (in English) the extensive amount of documentation.
We were escorted Back to Munich where I chose to go on the Third Reich part of the tour. Alun lead us through Munich showing us where the beginnings of Hitler and his madness began. We saw many buildings where meetings were held. Alun provided us with a thorough history of Hitler from birth to death. Alun’s knowledge and passion for the subject matter made for a very comprehensive tour. He had photos that matched the sites we visited. We ended the tour on the very grounds that Hitler had his office and watched his troops.
Alun also gave recommendations for pertinent books in the subject matter. More importantly Alun made it very relevant that knowledge was so important so that an event like this should never happen again.
Obviously I totally recommend this tour!

Right from first meeting Alun at the start of our tour we knew we were in good hands. He was very welcoming and gave us a clear instructions through out the tour . His yellow Bernie was very helpful to locate him when we needed to .
He only does small groups which made it easy to listen to all the details . The tour was very informative and can’t imagine any other tour being better the Alun’s. He knows his stuff to be able to get through the tour with minimal hassles as it can be quite busy at times . He gave us a great insight into the camp and nazi German and what it would have been like.

Today we did the Dachau concentration camp and was one of the best tours we’ve done. Alun was amazing and very informative about the whole topic. We really liked how the group sizes were smaller so was able to have more of a personal experience rather than a large group. Alun also gave us time to go through the museum ourselves but answered any questions we had afterwards. I highly recommend Aluns tours If your thinking of doing a tour around Munich!

Thankyou Andrew. Once again the feedback about small group sizes is positive and I will always endeavour to keep it that way. Everyone is a winner with small groups and I would suggest that to be a big consideration when booking tours.

This tour combined with Alun’s expert knowledge was a highlight for us while in Munich. Alun made it easy to navigate the public transportation system as a small group and kept the conversation going by talking you through the background of the third reich and filling in every detail through 1945 and beyond. He’s very kind, thought provoking and extremely knowledgeable. This tour is kept to a small amount of people so you can ask questions and actually learn. Bigger tours seemed like they were shuffled in and out with no true understanding of Dachau or the history leading up to it. Highly recommend this tour for both families and solo travelers.

Alun is the go to guide for touriing Dachau, providing a meaningful and relevant experience. Alun is a professional guide and is exceptionally knowledgeable. The small group size is preferable for such an important historical experience. This is our top experience in Bavaria! Thank you Alun!

Hi, I would like just a Munich tour for my family that doesn't include the Third Reich portion. Is is possible? I saw it advertised on trip advisor but then cannot find it when I tried to book.

Hi there,
The Memorial advises that the museum is not appropriate for under 12yrs.You can take kids but need to be aware of their sensitivity and take responsibility for steering them away from what you deem inappropriate. I try to Taylor my tours taking age into account. I do not show graphic images to kids generally that I may show to adults in the group.
