This is an institution as a department store in Munich. Not too huge, but with lots of high end brands and many unique items, quite often with - alas - prices to match. The music department on the 5th floor is huge - with a very large selection of CDs nd vinyls in the classical, jazz, world music and rock departments.....

Classical CD shop in centre of Munich. Superb. Still as fully stocked as 9 yrs ago (last visit). Similarly Tower Records Shibuya Tokyo. Poor London - where have all your CD shops gone?

This is the finest department store in Munchen. Quite similar to where I shop in the Dallas, Texas USA area. Excellent products, and more importantly, excellent, courteous and well-spoken employees. If I lived in Munchen, this would be my principal place for personal shopping.

My husband was on the lookout for a pair of lederhosen while we were in Munich. We stopped in Ludwig Beck and checked out the lederhosen on offer. We noticed that many styles did not have price tags and that those with prices seemed quite expensive. My husband asked the salesman on the floor about the disparity with lower prices he had seen in other nearby stores. It was an opportunity for him to explain about the different types of leathers that are used to make lederhosen. Instead, this young man was very condescending and told us that quality lederhosen are typically 1,000-3,000€. He stated that anything cheaper was "made of plastic". As he walked away from us, he said (in English so we would hear) "f*ç%cking English". Unbelievable.

I have never been to Japan, where Tower records seems to be unbeatable. But I once visited Los Angeles and must say I was completely shocked by the immensity of Amoeba Records and the huge diversity of titles it offers. After that, Ludwig Beck's 5th floor is the best record store I have ever visited in Europe. The place is extremely well organised, clean and classy. Service is expert, and they give you the chance to listen to the CDs. They provide thousands of classical music and jazz, both in CD and vinyl. I could find albums I had never been able to get before in any part of the world. If you are into music and are in Munich, then Ludwig Beck is a must-visit.

What a pleasure it was today to shop at Beck.
The staff are very professional and not like many other shops in München - they are so very nice and friendly.
I was at the Aqua di Parma counter getting my son's Christmas present. The ladies behind the counter although it was 19hrs and they had been on their feet all day couldn't do enough for me.
Normally you have to beg for a sample, not here, I think they gave me three of each fragrance for me to try. Wow!
Then it was to the 4th Floor to have the presents wrapped. What a pleasure. The lady took her time and wrapped the presents beautifully.
I have always been a fan of Beck and now even more so.

Big and well sorted shopping mall. Very central and with good brands. Over 4 big floors. Friendly service that will always help you. It's not cheap and the brands are more on the high priced side.

I went here primarily in search of the Heinemann Konditorei located within. But, I took a moment to browse and loved the clothing options, as well as the beautiful stationary and wrapping paper options. I ordered a few items as gifts for friends. The sales lady was aghast that I would fold the wrapping paper into small squares. But, I had to travel by plane back to the U.S. and traveling with it in full length would not work for me. It was a great purchae.

Great Shopping Experience. Lovely department store also offers many traditional Bavarian items. Prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend to shoppers.

This wasn't a typical visit to just another department store while visiting Marienplatz. It has a ton of high end yet unique items from stationery to clothing. I could spend an entire day browsing and being tempted by their goods. Their accessories (e.g. leather belts, scarves, handbags) are beautiful and well-made. The staff were all helpful and friendly too. The only slight negative point for me is that they don't sell watches and jewelry.
