This 4-hectare park is situated very close to Karlsplatz next to the Palace of Justice. There is an impressive gate to the park from the east corner.

The other important constructions in the park are the Neptune fountain, the Kunstpavillon art museum, and the Park Cafe.

On our visit, the sculpture of the Neptune fountain was under construction and covered.

This is not your typical Botanical Garden. Though parts of it do have garden displays, it's really a green inner-city oasis of playgrounds, walkways, and even a restaurant/beer garden. Just delightful...and only steps away from the bustle of city traffic and the main train station. A respite from the outside world. We loved it.

Alter Botanischer Garten, or the old botanical gardens is now a park after the new Botanical Garden was built in Nymphenburg, in 1914. Since then it's been converted back into a park. As parks go, it's pleasant and well kept with a large cafe area in the centre of the park.

There's a nice fountain called the Neptune Fountain, on the south side of the park opposite the Munich Courts. The park is also close to Karlsplatz, but otherwise don't go out of the way or come here expecting to see botanical gardens.

Popular with the locals, especially in the summer.

Sunday morning doing a walking tour of the city. The park was quiet, lots of trees, the flowers were still in bloom and provided nice color.
But I could NOT take a picture that didn't have garbage or beer bottles (about 50% broken) in it. Even with cropping I still have trash in my shots. The few garbage cans I saw weren't full.
Across from the Palace of Justice, one block from the train station. Not a very good presentation of the city.
And unfortunately, this wasn't the only park area in poor condition.

The Old Botanical Garden is today merely a nice city park and opportunity to get away from the busy city streets nearby. Built in the early 19th century, the grounds gave way to the new Botanical Garden out near Nymphenburg around 1914.

Today you find tree lined footpaths, grassy area and some nice flowerbeds which were in full bloom during our June visit. This was quite nice to see. There is a famous Park Cafe and biergarten as well as a large Neptune fountain and pool that can be seen at the Old Botanical Garden.

Overall, it is ok stop to make if you are staying in this area or plan to pass by here. However, I'm not sure I would target a visit here if your time in Munich is limited. Instead, I would prioritise the impressive English Gardens and the expansive Nymphenburg garden and park as well.

The old botanical gardens are now a nice little park in the heart of Munich. There's a large cafe, and a Neptune statue in a pool. We had a lovely stroll.

I walked around this in 10 minutes. It was raining which did not help but apart from the fountain there was not much to see.

Close to the Hauptbahnhof, this is now a park. It is also a very pleasant oasis in the busy city. It has a biergarten to which you are allowed to bring your own food. All beverages must be bought from the operators of the Biergarten, as is standard practice in Munich.

Nothing much to see, we just went there as it was in the middle of our way. It is nice, but time would be better spent at the English Garden. No need to visit.
