Levi led my my wife and I around the old town for hours that went by so quickly because of the interesting conversation and merriment. We would definitely hire The Thirsty Historian again, without hesitation. We just barely scratched the surface during our 4+ hour tour. Munich is such an amazing city, and Levi was the best guide we could ask for. Also, because we took the tour on the first full day of our trip, we feel better prepared to explore the city and its surroundings on our own.

GREAT tours In Munich!! We traveled with Levi to the Weihenstephan Brewery for the tour, lunch, and visit to the town of Freising. I'm sure we would have never been able to get this tour without Levi's help. The tour was great but his knowledge of the town and history of the brewery definitely enhanced the visit. We were so impressed with the day that we booked a second tour of Munich which included fantastic biergartens, great food, and a fantastic history of the city. All this while enjoying great beer. It honestly felt like we were enjoying an evening with a great friend but learned so many great details and sites of the city. A must if visiting Munich!!

A group of six of us spent two fantastic days with Levi! First, we went on the Oktoberfest experience. It was a great way to learn about Munich and the fest while having a fun time. Levi includes thoughtful touches, adapts to the group be adjusting pace and/or info as needed, and includes tips that are very helpful. The next day we went on the lake to lake hike. It was stunning scenery combined with good exercise and stops for beer and snacks. I can not recommend Levi and thirsty historian enough! It was such a great way to experience Munich and Germany!

While in Munich this year for the 209th Oktoberfest we decided to take a day off from the Fest because we wanted to tour the worlds oldest brewery. That being the Weihenstephan Brewery Abby and Monastery in Freising Germany about 45 minutes north of Munich. Since it was just the wife and myself I decided to look around for private tours/guides. This is when I ran across the Thirsty Historian. What a find! I scheduled a private tour and it was a great decision. Levi one of the owners met us at the Hauptbahnhof in Munich at 0830 and we were off for a 45" train ride north. What a nice and friendly guy and it sure didn't hurt that he was American too. Simply that he was easy to understand. He's been in Germany for quite some time and is fluent in German as well but English was nice. Weihenstephan will not allow anyone to act as the tour guide other than their own employees/students so Levi turned us over to the tour guide after arriving the brewery where we toured everything from start to finish and what's needed for the bier and some history as well. After the tour we were taken to a really nice Tap room on site where we had free tastings of their biers. It's funny because my wife and I joked about the volume of bier you get at the tastings. In the States you might get a 2oz tasting at an American brewery but here we got bottles. Literally bottles of bier to taste. As much as we wanted. We all (tour guide, Levi, wife and myself) sat around and talked about bier, history of the place and drank free bier! There was no hurry and no limit. We didn't overdue it but it sure was a nice touch. After the tasting Levi took us to the Souvenir shop for some take home goods and then it was lunch time. There is a fantastic cafe - Bräustüberl Weihenstephan also on site. It was a great lunch and afterwards we walked around the grounds where Levi explained much more of the history and even showed us the original Spring where the first water was used to brew the bier dating back 1000 years. The grounds are beautiful flowers, plants and trees. and he took us on a path through as much as we wanted to see and eventually led us back down the hill to town and the train station. What a great tour and idea for the day. Levi couldn't have been more knowledgeable of the area, the bier, the process and even gave us suggestion of what to do and see (more brewery's and museums) when back in Munich. Just a blast of a day. Thanks again Levi!

Three of us planned a trip to go to Oktoberfest in Munich. We arrived in Munich on a Monday and were departing on Wednesday. We had one day to do Oktoberfest (Tuesday) and we wanted to do it right. I found The Thirsty Historian through a friend's recommendation. We booked the full day Oktoberfest experience and it was amazing. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. Booking with Levi and John was easy. John gave us a great tour of the grounds and our table reservation was perfect. . It was a fun an informative experience and we really enjoyed all the food and festivities. I would highly recommend The Thirsty Historian for your Oktoberfest experience and I am sure their other offerings would be enjoyable as well.
