Our only regret was that we didn’t contact Oz for a tour the minute the plane landed! He is articulate, warm and energetic and left us with a much better understanding of the history and culture of Bavaria. Most importantly, we laughed the whole way through the tour. (What’s the point of a somber tour guide when you’re on vaca?) We sampled food and drink and genuinely had a blast trotting all around the historic Munich. (Warning: his legs are long 😂)

We went on Ozzie's City Tour, his Dachau Tour and then went out drinking with him.

You read right...We went out drinking with our tour guide. THAT'S how cool he was!

He gave us lessons on Bavarian culture, history, people, food and beer to match all of the places we went...Even the bars and beer halls, large and small!

He does go at a frenetic pace, and we started out wondering if we could keep up with him! But he made the learning fun, not tedious!

Those lessons helped us to understand what we saw and experienced and tasted (even that pig knuckle sandwich) even days after the tour was done...And it will stick with us forever!

(As an aside: Ozzie, it's your fault my girlfriend will from now until life's end correct me and say 'Bavarian, NOT German!' I hold you responsible, even though you introduced us to that awesome chocolate shop with the best hot chocolate I've ever had! *GRIN*)

Make your trip to Munich complete, and take a tour and share some Schnapps (Brand not Geist!) and pig knuckle with this fantastic individual!

I have traveled all over Europe and taken a walking tour in every major city that I have visited. Only once did a tour guide invite his tour-ists to join him for some beers and socializing afterward, and that was Oz. The tour, first of all, is very well planned and interesting. He provides a unique way to learn the history of Munich and it's many historical sites while also throwing in stops at the Hofbräuhaus and other "places of interest" along the way. Oz shows an obvious passion for his city and his tour and I intend to alter my schedule the next time I am in Munich to join his tour again. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone who is visiting Munich, whether you only have 1 day or several to spend in the city.

Whatever you do make sure there are other people on the tour. The day he took us on a tour he was hyped up on self importance.we received a synopsis of things he wanted to tell us but without dialogue or real context. He would allow you to ask a question.
It was seriously the worst experience ever.........as I say make sure there are other people on tour. One on one he is a disaster.

This was not at all what I expected but unfortunately that is not a compliment.

There are a few areas that I take issue with and the biggest one for me is the way in which he sells himself. Firstly he gives constant reminders about how expensive Munich is in a way that struck me as simply manipulative. He also provided a leaflet saying the areas that would be visited and two were missed.

My second issue is the tour itself. Being over 4 hours, I expected to cover the vast majority of the city within a walk-able distance. However I was left having to discover everything south of Marienplatz by my own accord because he spent at least an hour and a half of the tour with the group sat on some steps in the town hall and just talking, without us seeing anything new. He also allows no time for photos. Furthermore, when it came to the actual information I found him below par, as he evaded the questions I put to him and repeated the same 'information' many times, making me feel like he actually had a rather limited knowledge.

Going back to the point about sitting around, the idea itself was interesting but executed badly. His intention to make people think rather than just absorbing facts is a good idea, but after an hour sat on some stone, about all I could think about was being uncomfortable. He was successful in drawing some interesting comparisons between certain aspects of Munich and those of other cities but once again time was wasted through repetition of the same point and many of his discussion points, seemed to have a very American focus. Indeed this was so much the case that as one of only 3 Europeans in the group, I felt we were actively excluded from his jokes and 'humour'.

All in all, I would not recommend this tour to anyone as the time could be much more productively used, exploring Munich by yourself using a map and some common sense.

If you visit Munich, Ozzie's tour is a must! Ozzie's enthusiasm draws you in immediately and his passion and expansive knowledge for Munch, history, and people, sets this tour apart from any I have ever experienced. Ozzie does an excellent job engaging the group, which gives the group opportunity to interact and enjoy each other. When I think back to all my travels, I can confidently say my visit to Munich in 2008 was one of my favorite places simply because of this tour, the relationships formed, and the impromptu post-tour gathering among new friends in the group.

Go meet Ozzie! You won't be disappointed!

Rick Steves recommends taking a walking tour led by a knowledgeable local guide. After taking a tour with Ozzie earlier this month, my husband and I would certainly agree. Munich was our first stop in Germany and, fortunately, we were able to enjoy Munich and the rest of Germany much more thanks to Ozzie's tour. He is an articulate, well educated young man who could talk to anybody about anything. But his passion is Bavaria, its history, and its culture. His tour included discussions of history, economics, religion, and politics. My husband, a retired college professor who has researched the way people learn and retain information, found Ozzie to be an excellent educator. In addition to facts and figures, he challenged us to think. Visiting a foreign country is much more than just seeing the sights. One should take the time to learn about how others think and live. I would highly recommend the Gold Level tour that includes a delicious lunch with Bavarian cuisine at a local, nor touristy restaurant. Ozzie gave us other restaurant recommendations and suggestions for things to do. Ozzie is the best tour guide we have ever had in any country. Don't miss this tour if you are going to Munich!

Oz provided my wife and I with the best tour we have ever had! Not only did we learn of certain sites, but Oz brought us the religious, philosophical and historical aspects of Bavarian history as well as that of modern Germany. Ozzie spoke with much knowledge and experience and presented the facts in such a way that we left our 4 hours together feeling so much more informed! Anyone going to Munich should utilize this tour to learn so much great history!

Ozzie's tour is my favorite walking tour I've taken in any city (out of dozens in Europe and North and South America). Aside from just facts and figures, you'll learn a lot about Bavarian culture and how they got that way.

I first took a tour with Oz in 2007 (back when he was leading tours through a Munich Hostel), and when I returned in 2014 I made sure to sign up through OzTour and found the tour has only improved through the years. When I return to Munich, I'll definitely do it again.

BTW, you should also try to do the Beer & Shnapps tour with Ozzie as well. As a tourist, it will be your best chance to get a flavor for being a local in Munich.
