Very well presented and comprehensive exhibits
This Museum was one of the primary locations I wanted to see in Munich, and it didn't disappoint. I was mindful it wouldn't be as big or as comprehensive as The Neues Museum or the British Museum, but was still impressed with the range of exhibits. I would go out on a limb and argue this was the best presented Museum I have been to; incredibly well presented and well-lit, I got to get some fantastic photos of the Museum and the exhibits itself and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Munich.

    Smaller than I expected
The collection is smaller than I expected and lacking in any spectacular or truly memorable items. It's fine if you have a couple of hours to kill and it's inexpensive (7 euros) but there are much better museums and historic sights in Munich, if your time is limited. The entire museum is underground and it's easy to miss the entrance, depending on the direction you arrive from.

    Excellent exhibits.
Easy to find. 15 minute walk from the train station. Reasonable entrance fee. Lots of exhibits with explanations. Interaction encouraged. Easily filled 2 hours of looking at amazing jewellry, mummy caskets and friezes from 3 thousand 500 years ago. Interactive personal tablet didn't always function correctly.

    Incredible Egyptian Museum in Munich
The Bavarian Kings really knew what to collect. I was amazed at the artifacts in this museum. Even if you are only slightly interested in Egyptian history you need to visit this museum. It had some truly incredible artifacts. It was really fun and educational. Definitely one of my favorite museums.

There sadly wasn’t much we could actually do during my birthday, but fortunately that day at least some museums allowed visitors again, and we decided to check out the Museum of Egyptian Art in Munich!

It’s located in the Munich art area, and to reach it you best exit at the U-Bahn station ‘Koenigsplatz’, and then follow the sign towards the museum. Once you’re up at the Koenigsplatz itself, walk away from the propylaeum, passing the ‘Glyptotek’ on the left and the State Collections of Antiquitieson your right. Once you reach the crossroads, cross the road on the left side and then walk left. After passing the school for music and theatre, you then reach the Museum of Egyptian Art.
The entrance is really interesting and I totally love the design. Once you’re inside, you’ll find the reception to the right. If you head on through, there’s usually a small café, the toilets and lockers for your bags, as you’re not allowed to take them with you.
They then scanned our tickets and we headed inside.
Sadly I wasn’t allowed to film, which wasn’t stated anywhere on the homepage, sadly. Either I just didn’t find it, or it really is not there, which they should definitely change and add.
The official homepage states that “Rather than presenting a baffling array of rooms stuffed to the brim with Egyptian artwork, all within an even larger complex, the Munich museum offers respite from sensory overload with a more compact exhibition” – and that’s something you notice right away. The overall design is really clean and simple with the artefacts on display. There’s a line on the floor which you should follow, leading you around the museum.
There is also a member of staff in almost every room, and maybe it’s due to the museum being so empty right now, but sometimes I really felt watched in an almost uncomfortable kind. They offer multimedia content as well, and the design is really creative and it teaches you a lot.
The museum is wheelchair accessible and standard tickets for adults cost 8,80€.

It is a really interesting collection and I’m glad I finally had the chance to visit this museum.

This museum now has its own location on Theresienstrasse in the Museum quarter and it is impressive. The video guide is very good, with audio descriptions of some items and "reconstructions" of some fragmented items to show what they ,ight have looked like intact. Information panels are in German and English.

The exhibits continue through the years after the advent of Christianity and incorporates influences of the Copts, the Assyrians and the Nubians.

The entrance is not well-marked; the sign pointed to the Museum of "Altertumliche Kunst" (Ancient Art), which was so confusing I missed it and took the elevator (meant for the handicapped) down to the main floor!

I was glad I persisted. It was fascinating.

Visited the museum on the strength of recommendation by Rick Steves guide (note that this museum was not really mentioned/recommended by any other guides). Good insights on ancient Egyptian culture and histroy, alongside many interesting artifacts. Likes the good explanation on many things re ancient Egyptian history, from the earliest years, till the age of Islam spread into Egypt. The civilization evolved over thousand years. Look out for the Book of the Dead manuscript with interpretations in one of the room. Remarkable graphics using hyroglyps!

I have never been in a museum before where I have felt like people weren’t welcome. We had three children with us aged 4, 7 and 9. They were reasonably well behaved and certainly not running around or screaming. They were asking sensible questions and keen to learn but during our time there we were told off for:

Walking the wrong way around the exhibition (adults not kids).

Standing too close to an exhibit (adults not kids). Put a rope around it if we’re too close!

The children were leaning on the interactive table top screens so they could see, apparently this isn’t allowed.

Having the 4 year old on my shoulders because we had just been told off for standing too close again!

The artefacts are amazing but honestly we felt like they really didn’t want us there.

Also the audio guides for kids only come in German but adult ones came in multiple languages

The deutsches museum however is amazing and we’ll worth a visit.

Amazing museum with a really good organization however some parts of the exhibition lacked good lightning. Would recommend to anyone who is interested into Ancient Egypt. More English translations within the exhibition would be welcome.

I love Egyptology and this museum does not disappoint. From the entrance into the 'tomb' to the flow of the displays, truly outstanding. The design and experience is great and the artifacts are showcased wonderfully. There are some really nifty interaction exhibits...well done!
