- arby3777Melbourne, Australia34 contributionsFemale artists well-represented!We enjoyed our visit here in December 2023. It was awesome to see a number of art pieces by female artists! This is so rare in most galleries. We were introduced to the work of a number of artists we didn’t know, and the information panels were fantastic at contextualising the pieces displayed in each room/area. For any fellow Kandinsky fans, note that the art here is different to his more well-known pieces.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 11, 2023
- Sophie-Reviews8923London, United Kingdom80 contributionsFantastic Turner exhibitionWe went to see the Turner exhibition while visiting Munich, and really enjoyed it. The exhibition was very thoughtfully curated and we both learnt lots about Turner and his art which gave us a new appreciation. Speaking of appreciation, the cloakroom was also free which was very welcome after a day of trying to find euros to pay locker fees!Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 17, 2023
- JoshSingapore, Singapore1 contributionSolid stuffBooked online as a student, and I only paid 5 EUR. Some pieces have elaborate explanations while others merely have a title, date and artist name. All information was given in German and English. The only small complaint I have is the fact that during the day, the sunlight from some doors and windows may reflect off some pieces, thereby giving you a distorted look. Still worth a visit, especially if you can go during off-peak hours and have the luxury of exploring rooms peacefullyVisited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 12, 2024

Photographs are permitted in this museum. I found this visit as enjoyable as the first time I experienced this museum.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 30, 2024

Perfect example of art from 1850-1940s. Blue Rider art movement is big here.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 14, 2024

From the end of October 2023 to March 10, 2024, the Lenbachhaus will be showing paintings, watercolors and sketches from all creative phases of the artist William Turner (1775 - 1851).
He is considered an innovator and pioneer of modernism and had a preference for weather moods. He was able to capture the translucent quality of clouds and haze, especially in watercolor techniques. At the age of 14 he was accepted into the Royal Academy in London and later taught there as a professor.
The exhibition is very popular every day and it is best to book in advance in a time slot, otherwise you will have to wait a long time.
A must for anyone interested in art!

Museum in an old villa which is extended with a well designed new building. Beautiful collection and well displayed about the "Blaue Reiter" period. On the other floors was a temporary exhibition of other "groups" in modern art, very interesting.
The museum cafe is worth visiting.

This gallery is dedicated to the artists of the Blue Rider movement, founded by Kandinsky and Marc. If you are more into traditional art, this is not the place for you. The gallery is not huge, but has excellent displays. There is also an excellent cafe on site, where you can relax with a cup of coffee and a cake of have a delicious lunch.

The exhibition "Fragment of an Infinite Discourse" since June 2023 is largely the result of a donation from Jörg Johnen and the title of the exhibition refers to the artwork by the Mexican conceptual artist Mario Garcia Torres. "Three glass rings interlock without touching". It shows us how subtly and at the same time inseparably connected things are. Other very interesting artworks by various artists are shown.

In cooperation with "Tate Modern", 75 works by the artist group "Blauer Reiter" were loaned to London until the autumn and in return works by the English painter "William Turner" went to Munich. (The issue has already ended)
Through the gap in the works of art on loan, the Lenbachhaus is now showing new acquisitions and works from its own holdings that have not been closed for a long time.
I did not know many, including some of Maria Franck-Marc, wife of M.Marc
An art enthusiast should definitely view this exhibition.

The Lenbachhaus is always worth visiting, and this time was no exception. A special exhibition shows the links of members of the Blaue Reiter to overseas art and crafts, and it displays and discusses the relationships. There are also several recent works on display.

On my last visit to the Lenbachhaus I looked at the representation rooms of the painter Franz von Lenbach.
Lenbach was a celebrated portrait painter in the 19th century and therefore had a spacious studio and residential building built in the immediate vicinity of Königsplatz. International social figures came in and out of the Lenbachhaus and also had their portraits taken by him.
The representative rooms on the 1st floor of the Lenbachhaus give an impression of the former splendor.
