We visited the English Gardens as part of a walking tour of Munich. A must see with sights which include river surfing but beware the naked sunbathers!

A stroll through the beautiful English Garden in Munich will bring you joy and peace. And while you are there, stop and enjoy a beer and pretzel.

A lovely place, we visited in the summer and enjoyed the Bratwurst and Weissbier to our hearts content. One of my favourite places in Munich. Good value for money and at the heart of Bavarian culture. Lovely walks and views with little streams dotted around....More

The great thing about Englischer Garden is that it offers something for everyone - just stroll around in the summer or winter, enjoy a cold Mass at a beergarden or go for a swim at Eisbach. Cool things - beergarden at Chinese Tower cool atmosphere...More

It’s definitely worth a visit in winter! Especially, when it’s snowed! :)

There is parking, but I believe it can be quite pricey. Much better to walk, or use public transport, which is very good in Munich. That way you can have a few beers while you’re there.

Do you mean Special vegetarian like no onions , no potatoes ..etc ? Then I would suggest stick to cold salad food from the Inernational Subway Chain . There is 1 right inside the central station and one on the Schwanthaler Strasse . But if you are looking for ordinary Indian Vegetarian ,the place around Hauptbahnof has atleast 4 Indian restaraunts and an equal number of Chinese takeouts. The Indian/Pakistani ones mostly have atleast one Vegetarian curry . If you are lucky , you would find...More

Will you give me some feedback when you've got back,BWFC? There's 14 of us from Swinton, Manchester going for my son's 21st birthday in January. We're staying at The Holiday Inn at Schwabing, which is near to the Englisg Garden. Hope you have a good trip, and get a win to top it off for you! Cheers, Steve

brief palermo, cefalu, agrigento report (2 Replies)
I really enjoyed a brief visit to western Sicily, mostly inspired from this forum. Night ferry trip from Naples went great, getting "happy price" tix from web page posted around here for a stateroom that was less than an economy hotel (thus transportation was effectively free). Outbound SNAV ferry was new and large, and served a dreamy risotto; but on return SNAV used an older, smaller, less comfortable ship. I got all around Palermo on foot (except bus to Monreale), and learned to seek...More

Welcome back daft! Your trip was brief, but wonderful, and it sounds like you really enjoyed Palermo’s authenticity and people – There are many other such ‘real’ places in Sicily, so hopefully you will return! Thanks for taking the time to write an informative report - Kind Regards! Vagabonda
