A very interesting place to visit. Lots of early hunting equipment on display, particularly guns and cross bows. Fishing exhibit also good. Very enjoyable, albeit some displays a little 'tired, at a great price - pay a little more for the interactive card.

I wandered into a cool looking church building and it turned out to be the amazing German Hunting and Fishing Museum. No one from Minnesota turns down a hunting and fishing museum. They had an awesome collecting of old firearms, swords, and other hunting accoutrements. They had a really cool collection of old fishing gear and a great area for the kids. The taxidermy displays were really cool too. To top it off, they had great displays for the legendary Tazzelwurm and the Wolpertinger, the original jackalope.

It is located on the famous pedestrian zone Marienplatz. Due to shortage of time, we couldnot go in the main hall, but whatever we saw, it looked good. Those interested in fishing and hunting may like it a lot.

Its in the middle of the city and yet its a kind of a hidden gem. Interesting exhibits and very beautiful and historical building. During festive period they have a baby Jesus figurines exhibiton that is definitely a must.
Take your time and dont rush.
Good for kids as well.
7E is the entrance fee.

I've been to Munich a few times and one day I was wandering around the city central and found the German Hunting and Fishing Museum. I don't hunt or fish much myself but I do enjoy the outdoors including guns so I wanted to take a look. VERY BIG place with many artifacts dating back to pre-history. Many fascinating firearms such as the old match-lock, flint-lock and other black powder hunting guns. The guns ranged from what Kings and royals would have used down to what the every-day German used to put a duck on the dinner table. Many taxidermy's to remind you that the Munich area (and all of Bavaria, Germany and Europe) was once very wild with boar, large deer, bear and so on. It gave me a very nostalgic "old Europe" feel. I would definitely visit again.

I'll start by saying that this isn't usually my kind of place. We ran into it by accident (it's just off Neuhauser Strasse, the main shopping street) and the kids dragged me in.
Inside there are three main floors of exhibits on all the creatures that can be hunted or fished in Germany. The animal exhibits are interesting and well done, and it gives you a really good overview of the ecosystem and fauna in the area. My boys (5 & 7) were impressed. They also have stuffed animals for examining on the second exhibit level...it was a treat for them to touch a beaver's webbed feet and see a wild boar up close. The third floor was an assortment of all the unique firearms used to kill the inhabitants of floors one and two. Didn't hold our interest, but the first two floors provided 40 minutes of fascination for the little guys.
In short, If you're a hunter or fisherman, you'd love this place. Parents with young children could easily negotiate some shopping time in return for a quick visit. Vegetarians and anti-hunting advocates, however, would not be impressed!

Boring collection of stuffed animals, unclear bottom of the river/ocean exhibition, and other things of the sort. Interesting: beautiful old firearms (but arms are not of my interest) and sick (?) animal horns. Please note that ask explanations are in German only.

It is a good museum, with interessting informations about hunting and fishing. The entrance fee about 2,50 Euro is ok. I missed the ocean fishing, but is was still ok.

If you are interested in history of museum education, that's the place to go :-). You will find everything from modern, really cool interactive installations to showcases with hundreds of neatly aligned fishing hooks or shotguns. The latter tend to be boring if you are not a true fan of these items.
We had a quick chat with one of the guides and they seems to have many promising plans for the future.
My tip: if you have one or two hours to spend it is a good place to go, but focus on the interactive areas.

Good place to pass and hour or so, some very strange exhibits but some interesting ones too, the entry fee is cheap at 5 euros. The building itself is absolutely stunning.
