We offer exceptional walking tours in Munich and the surrounding area. We specialise in 3rd Reich and WW2 military history, archaeology and Medieval themes or can tailor a private tour to your wishes. We are also able to offer tours of the Dachau Memorial site with fully trained, tested and knowledgeable guides. We believe in using all the senses so expect to handle artefacts like ancient pottery, swords, armour, uniforms, original documents and photographs. Unlike other firms, ALL our guides have a background in history and heritage and have previously worked professionally in these sectors in roles as diverse as archaeologists, museum and theatre advisors and period-specialist film extras. Discounts given for students, seniors and serving or ex-military/ambulance crew/fire brigade/police officers. Suitable for history lovers aged 8 to 80.

Taff came to the hotel and we set off from there on foot. He even brought an umbrella for the rain that arrived later. He also brought books, props and other photos that really brought to life the history of the places we were standing in. He was very adept at tailoring his tour to personal interest and existing knowledge.... More

Taff (aka David Simon) is an interesting man with a wealth of knowledge on Munich and its history. His day job is as an archaeologist doing prework on future construction sites around Munich in case there are historical artifacts or settlements to be found. This has given him a variety of stories and experiences that he's happy to share, and... More

I made my enquiry with 'Taff' over email after seeing good reviews on trip advisor. We met Taff outside the Town Hall and started our wander around the city. Taff was informative friendly and flexible. It was a warm day and Taff made plenty of provision for refreshment! I like the fact that the tour was small in numbers (only... More

I went with my family (3 children where the youngest were 10 years old) to Munich and had one day to spend and found Dark History Tours on Tripadvisor (and this with a very short notice). We wanted to learn more about the history of WW2, see some sites and learn more of the people with the connection of Munich... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tour with Taff. Our daughter will be studying the Holocaust in school this year -- we made a special stop in Munich so she could experience history first hand and Taff did an outstanding bringing history to life for all of us! He has an impressively in-depth knowledge of WWII history and brought a large,... More

This is the tour to take in Munich if you want an accurate account of Munich’s dark yet fascinating history. Armed with props, some colourful stories and a dry sense of humour, Taff made our day from beginning to end. As a quintessential ‘Welshman abroad’, with a personal connection and a genuine historian’s interest in this city, he is the... More

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our private tour with Taff. We spent the day at Dachau, lunch in Munchen and then toured the city. We learned so much, all with the right sensitivity and dignity when dealing with the Third Reich topics. Hope Taff felt as much a part of our family of 5, as we felt he was. Highly recommend!

We arranged a tour with Taff some time ago. He answered all emails promptly and was prepared to make a tailor-made tour to suit our interests. As it happened, on the day of the tour we made a last minute change to the plan – no problem. Taff is knowledgeable, agreeable and pleasant. We had a most enjoyable and interesting... More
