Ok as far as touristie goes it is top of the list but when you stand there with the crowd looking up as it dances around really think as to the time with was built and you'll appreciate it just that much more because they sure don't make anything like this anymore!

We have seen the Glockenspiel many times but it never ceases to amaze us. There is usually a large crowd to watch the music and dancing which last about 15 minutes.

The "Rathaus-Glockenspiel" is a tourist attraction in Munich's popular Marienplatz. It's located in the tower of the New Town Hall and it dates from 1908. Every day at 11 a.m. (as well as 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. during the summer) it chimes and re-enacts two stories from the 16th century to the amusement of mass crowds of tourists and... More

I moved to Munich 10 years ago. There are so many interesting and amazing things to do in Munich. This one is nice, but the Marienplatz is always packed when the glockenspiel starts and it's definitely overrated.

Especially children will be charmed by this 10 minute performance ! The beautiful busy Weihnachtsmarkt adds to the joy, with the smell of Gluehwein hanging in the air ! A MUST visit when in... More

This is a very nice building with beautiful architecture and is a worthy visit for anyone in the area. The tower is marvellous and the Marienplatz area surrounding it is wonderful.
