The Glockenspiel goes off at 11, noon and 5pm. I'm glad we went although it's a such a touristy thing to do. Our tour guide explained the significance of the various parts of the movement which made it more interesting. The surrounding area has beautiful architecture and lots of restaurants. Plan for a couple of hours for lunch if you... More

It is not as exciting as some might expect, but it is still very charming and quaint. One can imagine how amazing it must have been when it was first built. The square gets very crowded for the 2-3 daily shows. Find then time to see it once while you are in Munich.

We enjoyed touring Munich in December. All the Christmas markets surrounding this historic downtown area, with the warm mulled wine in hand, strolling and stopping to watch the clock come to life. Wonderful stroll.

This is worth seeing if you're in the area and happen to be passing at the right time (as we were). It's charming but not as spectacular as some of the guidebooks make out. The display lasts several minutes but is repetitive - we were pleased we did not make a special trip to the square just to see this.

Not a bad place to walk by, but definitely wouldnt go out of my way to see it. Very beautiful architecture, but not a fan of the crowds

I overheard two tour guides describe this as one of the top three most over-rated sites in Europe, and i would have to agree. Catch its act as a bonus when you're passing through Marienplat, but don't plan your actives around its schedule. The glockenspiel, which is entirely reconstructed after WWII, goes off three times per day (in summer) and... More

It's free and for some people that's the only qualification. Well this one is and it's a nice little display.

The building is of a great architecture and well worth a visit. Spend some time in front to see the statues dance at 12, 1, and 5pm. Visit the interior terrace and make sure you visit the tower for great views. For 2,5 € it's worth to see Munich from above.
