We went to see Don Giovanni - an excellently performed opera with good singing and good sound. The building is marvellous, both in the opera hall itself and ind the lobby/pause areas. We were 7 minutes late due to a complete S-bahn standstill (after 20 minutes, we ran for the car). The handling of latecomers wasn't very well organized -... More

We booked a day trip to Munich from Austria especially to see this Opera. Great preliminary days in Salzburg and a nice day and lunch in Munich set us up for a wonderful evening of classical Opera. Imagine our faces therefore when the production started with a group of door security lookalikes skating onto an ice stage and seemingly playing... More

Watched La Bohème almost two weeks ago. The theater is awesome, the opera and singers were incredible, helpful staff and good (but a little pricey) coffee. Even if you're not an opera-lover, I really think it's worth buying even one cheap ticket for those standing seats instead of just taking the tour through the theater or looking at it from... More

Wouldnt personally go there for a tour. But the building itself is beautiful, inside and out. Went in June to see Swan Lake, it was an amazing performance. 10 euros for standing 3 hours but it was worth it. Staff was helpful in showing us our correct spots. Went for water at the intermission, 3 euros! That was my only... More

We spent 15 minutes waiting to talk to someone to find out if they had any tours of the Opera House but the woman was very rude and was doing her own personal things as if she had no interest in helping. We gave up and left, which is what she was hoping for I am sure.

A really horrible choice of location to stage a Pina Bausch ballet. The entire audience in the galleries was moving and stretching to try to catch some of what was happening on stage, most of which was not visible. Very poor.

Grand opera house in Munich which is near the Munich Residenz and Marienplatz. The interior is well worth admiring if you have the chance to go in for a tour or to watch and opera performance!

Some problems with the acoustics, we were sitting in row 12 extreme right hand side and when the performers were on the left hand front stage there was a very annoying echo - try to avoid those seats - we had no choice. Saw Lohengrin, well sung but the staging, sweat pants and t-shirts, ok it's the 21st century but... More

There are no words to describe beauty and architecture of the theatre. It is well worth visiting in the first place. Even if you're not a fan of this kind of entertainment, visit this place.
