You definately need to go but quickly. The square is pretty but my family found the glockenspiel under whelming. Its a good place to walk around and get some ice cream or lunch .

If you have nerve seen the glockenspiel then please make sure you do. They have specific times so check when you arrive in Munich.

Had to come to Marienplatz and see it. They had a gay pride festival while we were there. Lots of people and good flowing of beer.

Its the center of munich so its worth taking a tour marienplatz just for the view of the church and the resturants. You can continue the tour by walking to the English Garden (20min) through the Hofgarten its nice! Enjoy
