Perhaps the most touristy place in Munich. Lots of things going around for the entire day. Locals advice to visit in the evening during summer.

The square is extremely beautiful, but it is terribly crowded. However that may be due to the huge influx of tourists during Oktoberfest. There are plenty of places to eat at and quite often street performers are about.

I loved this Platz, so much to see and do. The church and such a variety of restaurants and cafes, not to mention the on-street entertainment. We spent a lot of time there

The architecture is beautiful and stunning and worth a couple of photos. But it’s very touristy and crowded, surrounded by big brand shops like H&M etc. Worth seeing but don’t plan to spend too much time here.

Marienplatz is the place to be for New Year's Eve. Fireworks went on for about 30 minutes. Head there a bit early to be in the front for a good view.

If you only have time to visit one thing in Munich, visit the Marienplatz. Nice selection of outdoor cafes.

The edifice and the ornate facade are great to look at but just watch out for the large groups of tourists milling about

Do yourself a favor and make sure you get to the center of Munich to enjoy the true cultural experience of Munich. Most of the buildings have been reconstructed from the ashes of World War II and represent a fine example of old world German...More

We did not pay to walk around it. It hosts the mayor and city council. We had lunch at the historic restaurant, Ratskeller.
