So, as I do every year I’m in Munich. I made the trip to the tower from across the city. This year I scoured a load of web pages to see if it’d be open still, or what the etiquette to going up would be. I figured it would be a lot different from last year considering the current situation and I was okay with that. I found very little in the Internet aside from some vague “keep 1.5m away” and “wear a mask”. So off I went to the tower, hoping for the best, only to get there and be told rather vaguely that it was “full”. Why is there no more information available? Why aren’t slots for the ascent available to book online like the Zoo and Deutsches Museum are doing? Disappointing, because this is always a real highlight for me.

We had the chance to visit the Olympiatrum on a rock-blues concert of Blues Busters - musicians on our age of 60. Very good!

A really nice experience with the chance to see all the surrounding scenery because the tower is the highest structure around. If you visit after dark, you get to see the city lights and the Allianz Arena going all red. Place is not crowded and there is a restaurant and a small rock shop in the top. Best to visit on clear weather so there's higher visibility.

The breathraking views from the observation decks above the Restaurant 181 provided a fitting end to a wonderful week in Munich. The service and food we experienced in the restaurant exceeded my expectations in spite of the above average price.

We unfortunately had cloud and rain for our visit to Munich so couldn’t get the best out of this but that’s just bad luck With weather, the point being on a clear day the views are probably superb. The views were still good and there a number levels to view externally even after the lift. The rock museum wasn’t as good as hoped as we couldn’t see some of the items referred to in guide books but we could have been mistaken and it is included in the tower admission price so can’t complain. There are great views of the Olympia Park and the tower is only a short walk from the U bahn and bus stops. The hop-on hop-off bus also stops here and a visit is worthwhile.
