Happened upon this as part of a self guided walking tour of the city... Located near several other attractions, this was worth a look.

This church lost a lot of its' stained glass in the war, but some remains and stands testament to what the original effect would have been. The domed interior has beautiful floor tiles, carved pews, and stone inlaid features.

Certainly worth taking a walk through the park at night. The old world meets the modern world in a stunning skyline impression.

Large Protestant church along the Isar river away from the city center. Constructed during the late 19th century it is very visible walking the Isar river. Beautiful green dome and nice stained glass windows.

Really nice church by the river. Great brickwork and lovely green dome. Attractive inside as well. One of the larger churches in Munich

This Protestant church is an impressive structure, and it can clearly be seen from a distance. It is quite large.

St. Lukas Church (St-Lukas-Kirche) is located along the bank of the Isar River in Munich. Constructed in the late 19th century, this is the largest Protestant church in Munich.

The 64 metre high dome is what you notice first when approaching St. Lukas. Two tall towers stick out as well. The exterior of the church is Romanesque in appearance.

You enter the church from the main entrance from the east. Here you find a Neo-Gothic style interior laid out in the manner of a Greek cross. The main body of the church feels immense, particularly with the high ceiling. We enjoyed seeing the detailed stained-glass windows, the decorative altar and pulpit and carved wooden pews.

Overall, we liked our brief visit to St. Lukas even if it is a bit isolated from popular sightseeing areas. Those with limited time in Munich may prefer the high concentration of interesting historical churches around the Old Town. For those with more time on their hands, St. Lukas is a place worth passing by.

The church building is huge and looks beautiful from outside. The interior of the church is however very basic.
The special feature in the church are the concrete figurines on the walls.

In the neighborhood of the Maximilianeum this church looks bigger than it is when you are inside. It has a rather plain roof from the inside. Beautiful to visit but only if you are near.

Built in the late 19th century, this is supposed to be the largest protestant church in Munich right at the west bank of River Isar. Since most visitors would be engaged in the centre of Marienplatz with its cluster of major attractions, you need to go a little out of the way if you were keen on seeing as many churches as you could in Munich. Indeed, I just happened to pass by after visiting the Angel of Peace column as St. Lukas was not on my original itinerary. Worth taking a look though as it was said to be the most perfectly preserved Lutheran Parish Church in the City.
