Beautiful museum dedicated to carriages and royal sleighs. It is located in the Nymphenburg complex in a side wing. At the castle ticket office you can buy a reduced cumulative ticket that also includes this museum. The museum houses lavish carriages, royal sleighs, harnesses and riding accessories from Bavarian rulers. The most lavish carriages and sleighs are those built, some to his design, for King Ludwig II, a symbol of decadence of the period.

It is hard to believe that horse-drawn carriages and sleighs could be so over-the-top fancy and ornate. With over forty coaches and sleighs, the museum chronicles over three hundred years of royal travel and culture. The showpieces of the museum are the Coronation Coach of Emperor Karl VII (in the French Rococo style) and the golden carriage that carried Charles Albert Wittelsbach to his coronation as Holy Roman Emperor in 1742. The museum is located in the old riding stables of Nymphenburg Palace. (PaM)

There are many things to see at the Nymphenburg Complex, including this wonderful museum. The Marstallmuseum is located in what had once been the riding stables for the Royal Palace. The museum is filled with over three centuries of beautiful and ornate court coaches and sleighs. Each was a work of art. You can't help but stand and study the amazing details of each. One of the showpieces of the collection had to be Emperor Karl VII's coronation coach. It was absolutely stunning. Also in the collection where coaches used for state funerals.
I spent a good bit of time in this museum. For me it was one of the highlights of the Nymphenburg.

The carriage museum is housed in the stable building and stands on the side of Nymphenburg Palace. The exhibition includes a large number of royal carriages and sleighs but also accessories and harnesses for riding, as well as period pictorial and photographic material. Interesting and visually impactful visit, given the sumptuous decorations and gilding of some models, included in the combined ticket. The porcelain museum is housed on the upper floor of the same building.

We started our Palace tour by buying tickets 10am at the Carriage Museum, no lines. Unbelievable Carriages! Sleighs encrusted in Gold! Horse Bridles of such Beauty with weight! Must See!
Beginning by seeing the Opulence in this Museum will prepare you for the Palace, if you see after the Palace, I think you are already overwhelmed.

Located adjacent to Nymphenburg Palace it is well with getting a combination ticket to include the admission for museum.
A large selection of highly decorated carriages and sleds which were used by the Palace residents in years gone by. I had never seen such s large collection of highly decorated and elaborate horse drawn sleds.
Also included is access to the Porcelain Museum.

This museum is located in the formal royal stables of the Nymphenburg Palace and contains an extensive display of three centuries worth of royal carriages, sleighs, harnesses and equestrian other items. Highlights are the coronation coach (with horses) of Emperor Karl VII, royal vehicles of King Ludwig II and historical pictures. Information on each exhibit is presented in both German and English. This museum (along with the palace) is open April through mid-October from 9 AM to 6 PM and from mid-October to March from 9 AM to 4 PM. Price of admission is 4.5 euros (3.5 euros reduced fare). A combination ticket for the palace plus the smaller park palaces and the Porcelain Museum is 8.5 euros (6.5 euros reduced).

My husband and I went to this museum and were pretty much blown away by the collection of sleighs and carriages. The sleighs especially were absolutely stunning. This is a huge and high quality collection that needs to be seen. The craftsmanship and artwork on the sleighs and carriages was amazing. One note, we went in March on a chilly day. Wear warm clothes as the museum is not heated very much (I would assume that helps in conservation of the articles.)
This museum houses sleighs, carriages, and harnesses of the Bavarian and Palatine Electors and the kings of the house of Wittelsbach.
And, despite what another review stated, there are no snowmobiles in this collection.

Marstallmuseum at Nymphenburg is considered to be one of the most important court carriage museums in the world. It is located in the old Horse Stable on the ground floor of the south wing at Nymphenburg. The museum is included in the (€9) entry ticket for Nymphenburg Castle. Opening hours are 9am to 6pm daily and 10am to 4pm during winter months.
We very much enjoyed browsing through the old Horse Stable and viewing the rich collection of beautifully decorated carriages of the Whittlebach dynasty. Highlights include the remarkable chariots of Charles Albert and Maximilian I amongst many others. There are information panels near most of the carriages providing historical details for those with interest.
You will also be able to see splendid winter sleighs and a neat horse portrait gallery. Take a few minutes to watch the video that is on offer at Marstallmuseum. Afterwards, make your way up to the second floor and you can view the private collection of Nymphenburg porcelains from the Nymphenburg factory. This is another remarkable holding that is easy to appreciate for those with such interests.
We spent around 45 minutes browsing the court carriage and porcelain collections at Marstallmuseum, finding it well worth making time to see during time spent at Nymphenburg.
